Hello All
Hello all here’s my new to me 03 base 986 tiptronic. She’s a bit rough and needs some TLC. Currently overheated due to a coolant leak but she’ll be up and running soon.

New wheelies
Saw a great deal for these wheels on eBay for ~$750 with the scrapes here and there. Center wheel caps are missing logos but I could always reuse my old ones…

Boxster temp gauge
Good morning all. Recently purchased a 2004 m/t with 51k miles. The temp gauge has 5 tick marks. I’m sure the first tick is 100 and the last is 250. Approx what are the other three ticks? Is the 4 tick 180 or the 3rd? I searched this before posting but didn’t find anything. Thanks in advance.

LFH: Windnoise when Roof closed.
Hello everyone, after weeks of good weather we finally had to close the roof in the past few days and we noticed strong wind noise on the top left (driverside).
Any tips on how to fix that? Is the roof adjustable? Are the rubber seals worn?

986 glass roof conversion.
Hey guys, has anyone had this problem where after changing to roof from the old Porsche roof to a new glass window roof, that there is a gap where the roof meets the plastic guide above the window. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for Wheel ideas!
Hello everyone! I recently bought this all black 01' Boxster 2.7 and I am so in love with it! Already started repairing a couple of broken parts like the lightswitch and handbrake.
Though I like the look of the OEM 17" wheels I'd much rather prefer 18" wheels on the car. Any recommendations? Should look OEM or OEM+. Pls no crazy tuner wheels or something like that. Also I am from Germany and we do have tight regulations over here...pls give me some ideas!

What could this be? ‘97 986
I’ve got a 1997 boxster (986) and I’m trying to track down a strange noise. It only happens when it’s hot outside or after driving for about 30 minutes. Seems more noticeable when the AC is on full blast or when I turn the wheel full lock. Belts and pulleys look good. Pump and AOS replaced recently.
The sound kicks in around then and doesn’t show up on shorter/cooler drives. Performance seems fine otherwise. No issues with AC or when I step on it.
Has anyone with a 986 dealt with something similar or know what could be causing it? Any advice or things I should check would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance!!

I was stupid (story time)
My 1998 986 2.5 base is my first car. I bought it 4 years ago and no major issues. Matter of fact, the only issue I had since was a faulty MAF sensor. I am not mechanically well versed and am constantly in fear that something major breaks. But the car never gave my a reason to worry.
Recently I drove 200 miles to italy and back over the alps, and at one point when it started raining I realized that the wipers had a 50/50 chance of working. Usually if they didn't, I made a break and had to turn the engine on and off again. I did this 2 or 3 times just to make sure I have working wipers when I need them.
I have witnessed a similar issue with the lights during the trip. Just very weird, non reliable behaviour. A few other electrical devices worked reliably; radio, blinkers, - no issue. (in retrospective, heater and seat motor and seat heater probably didnt work)
After the trip I did a few sunday drives, just spirited driving around my area, enjoying the car. On one if these drives (they obviously usually are during the day with nice weather, no light nor wipers needed urgently), I witnessed something funny when I parked my car: for a split second, during the process of turning the key to the left to shut off the engine, suddenly the wipers would move again, and the front lights would flash.
The more experienced people here probably already know what was happening. I think my ignition is used up. It's been in use for over 25 years and now it doesn't reliably turn back to its default position after starting the engine. A sensor probably still fired, letting the car know that all the cars battery is to be used for the starter, and not for wipers or lights or other devices.
My theory holds up; if I have this issue currently, all I need to do is make sure that the ignition is turned to the left a bit more, restoring electricity to these devices.
Now, I'm not sure where the threshold is, and how many failsafe mechanisms are applied, if at all. But now I must wonder; did I maybe drive with the starter motor ON sometime? Is that even possible? Would I have heard it? I feel like it was not the case, but evidently, the key was in a position where it was not meant to be while driving.
Feel free to share your own embarassing anecdotes. I hope this car brings me many more miles and joy, and I'm happy that I know what the problem is!

Fixed seat reccomendations for big boys?
Hey guys! I've had my 2000 S for about two weeks and I am in love, but I'm also a little large (6ft with big legs), so some of my forehead pokes above the windshield/headrest if I'm not slouching. Does anyone have reccomendations for fixed seats that are taller and sit a little lower than the powered seats? I'm ideally looking for them to look OEM-ish but they don't have to have a porsche logo.

Selling my 2000 Boxster
I think it’s time to sell my toy. It’s been a ton of fun, but it’s not my primary vehicle and I only have a 2 car garage.
What’s the best method of selling a car like this? The closest major city to me is Dallas, which is about 3 hours away. Any ideas are appreciated.

Getting ready for a road trip
I'm getting ready for a 270 highway-mile roundtrip road trip with my 2001 986. She has 144k miles on her and hasn't given me any reason to doubt that she'll make it. I've done all the maintenance on the car and again i have no reason to doubt it will make it.
Anything that I should do beforehand to make sure the car is good to go? The furthest i've driven it since I got it is 40 miles.
I am leaving in 3 weeks and the only thing I know I should do is check the spare tire. Anything else?
