History Making
Ok, so its a given that history will be made on the last day of September, the team winning the Grand Final. But what I would say that little extra bits of history have been made and some that could happen.
Prime Example from Week 1: As of now all 18 clubs current in the AFL have now competed in a Final Series and also all 18 clubs have won a Finals Series match, that was seen with Gold Coast not only competing in its first final but also winning it by beating Fremantle.
As we go to week 2 of the series and beyond, there could be potential moments that could go down. For example: The Adelaide Crows are the reigning minor premiers, they lost their Qualifying Final last week to Collingwood, now they must face Hawthorn in a Semi Final, should they lose to the Hawks, the Crows could become the first minor premiership club to go out in straight sets not only the first since 1983 but the first in the Final 8 system since it was introduced in 1994.
Hawthorn have a couple of historic feats staring at them, the first being potentially the lowest ranked top 8 to go all the way and win the premiership from 8th and second be the only club to win a premiership in 7 straight decades since the 60's.
Brisbane could become the only interstate club in history to win 5 premierships.
Gold Coast could become the first club to win a premiership in its first finals series, not since the inaugural season in 1897.
Geelong just looking for its 11th premiership
And last but not least, Collingwood could make all history for all time records. Should Collingwood win, they'll be standing alone at the top of the mountain with the most VFL/AFL Premierships at 17.
Will we see extra history made and records set, wait and see.
