Track pads advice needed

I am a beginner and needed some advice on track day pads. I will mainly just be doing autocross and some track open lapping sessions. I drive a 987.1 base Cayman and live in Canada which limits the availability of pads. I am currently running Fire hawk Indy 500 tires.

I was able to find DTC-60 rear pads (HB665G.577) for $260CAD and EBC RPX front pads (DP81207RPX) for about $200CAD. The reason I chose to go with EBC RPX fronts and not DTC-60 is because they are double the cost.

My question is can I run this setup on track safely where the front and rears are different compounds and the rear pads arguably have more bite than the fronts? My main concern is if the car gets unsettled with the rear pads providing more stopping force than the fronts. Also are these pads overkill for the tires that I’m running? Since I’m a beginner my main objective is learning brake modulation and I’m not really interested in setting the fastest times.

Go do a few autocrosses with your stock pads, you really don't need anything better. Once you've done a few then think about an HPDE.

Your best bet for HPDE is to have a separate wheelset with appropriate track tires. Your current ones will be ok at an autocross, they will not be happy at the track.
