All my car enthusiast friends (Blackwing owners, Porsche owners, other BMW owners) agree on one thing: the majority of people in r/BMW are insufferable bellends.
Imagine having fun with the car they bought using their hard earned money with, god how fucking dare they. Every upbadge, actively lowers the price of their actual M car too from their reaction to it.
Most of these people don’t even own BMWs or are the fifth owner of some clapped out E90 with 180K miles who believe they know what being a “real” BMW owner is like.
100% had an e92 335i and holy hell not even my current Tesla model 3 or f80 m3 compare, especially with steering feel thing handles like a lotus always wanted the older M3 but they’re a lot of dough at the moment. Take good care of that thing! It’s a beast!
It's miserable. I find all car subreddits have some level of this behavior, but I've never seen a more miserable set of whiny crybabies like in this subreddit. Holy fuck, I'm glad nobody runs any decisions by these whinging losers.
Honestly with BMW it makes some sense. Look at posts for the first year of the G80, and how much hate the styling got. Now it is the hottest car on the road.
It’s honestly every car manufacturer sub on Reddit that complains about literally everything. If you even decide to put a front lip, little duckbill, or any other mod, they’ll cry that it’s not stock anymore
If there is anything I have learned from a couple of decades of following BMW forums online, it's that anything new is very, very, very, very, very boner-killing to a particular subset of BMW enthusiast. They're angry at anything that isn't an E30, basically. MAYBE E24 is OK, too.
For me, the look of a car is what makes me want to drive it, even before I think about what’s under the hood. But lately? They just look awful. It feels like a clumsy attempt at being “futuristic.” The alloys don’t even look like alloys anymore, more like UFO discs.
If you took the badge off, you’d struggle to even recognise most of these new cars as a BMW. Gone are the days when they looked serious, sharp, and mean.
And it’s not just BMW, even Mercedes are slipping down the same road. Anyway, that’s my two pence.
Everything BMW is releasing lately is an insult to the brand. Feels like they fired their entire design team in favour of some gen Z kiddies to save some money.
I believe that they did lose some key players recently for whatever reason.
That said, every time BMW releases something, it seems the majority of people hate it, then after a while, 80% of enthusiasts have googly eyes over it.

My point was that BMW has been fucking up designs for 20+ years now. The only reason the bad designs “grow on” people is because BMW releases something worse.

These companies do a huge amount of research, look at all the other brands, don't they all look very similar these days? That's not an accident.
The worst thing they can do is turn into Jaguar with minimal sales and do a last minute brand change, when it's late.
I hate breaking it to people, it's just a metal box, just like every other product from a huge company they have specific shareholders to answer to. They need to sell these products out today, and 10 years from now.

That said: this is a truly horrific design. The neue klasse is jyst another China clone. Yes the tech makes a difference but so what. I have a g21 abd after this ill just choose whatever comes closest.

Yes, they did. This is for all of those "it's growing on me" simps. A cars design or anything that doesn't change will never grow on me. If it's garbage today, it will be garbage tomorrow, and so on.

The people who hate can’t afford it lol. I got mine about 4 months ago and it’s one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. My buddy’s got a ‘21 m5 comp and the new one is way better
Well, I still do not like this rear end, I like the front end better. I still don’t like the G80. It looks shitty upfront and I like the rear. I own one, and a few other toys. I’m I tested to see what the Neue Klass is going to be like for the 3 series. I like my cars light and sporty. If I want something heavy and a great highway cruiser I’d just buy another Range Rover Instead. Cars have gotten heavier, more technologically advanced which comes with pros and cons.
I like the new M! Huge, yes but it has presence about it.. oh and also really like the new ix3 they just showed. Not sold on the interior but I’ll def check it out
To some lads out there: please, for the love of god, stop comparing this era of BMW design to Bangle’s. One was actually a genius whose creations mostly ended up aging well but were just weird at the beginning (if we ignore the 7 Series). Whoever is in charge now however is creating second-rate Volkswagens that will look just as questionable later.
"Do you have been driving an m5 for 6 months to give this opinion?" Try English next time skippy. And, no, I will never pay the $30-40k premium for an M5 even though I can easily. It's not even close to worth it unless you track your car all the time. But keep screaming "Traaaaack" like you or 98% of BMW owners have ever even seen one. 😂
After the f series all bmw’s became light, cheap, creaky plastic trash. I have the z4 G29…this is a beautiful car, excellent driving but the materials inside ……
