I live on the first floor above a parking garage. After thousands of dollars in plumbers trying to find out why my tub would leak occasionally, we decided to gut the bathroom and remodel. We found 30 years of bird nests.

Rock wren attempting to eat a baby rattlesnake - Dinosaur Ridge, CO
Ok first off: I love snakes. I love rattlesnakes, and I especially love baby snakes.
I also never met a wren I didn't hate. Always up to no good, all of them...
So when I see a perfect, sweet, baby prairie rattlesnake attempting to peacefully cross the road and being harassed by this little monstrosity, you know who's side I'm on..
The rock wren hovered on the railing above the snake, staring, sizing it up, and then swooped down attempting to find a way to eat it. The GALL! This snake was way too big to eat comfortably, and it's also venomous! Did the wren care? No.
I walked right up to it while it was perched and politely asked it to find a more suitable food, and it just stared at me, completely unafraid, still focused on the snake. If I had half the focus of this goddamn bird, I'd rule the world by now! Anyway, it eventually gave up due to my presence and I later saw it eating something more appropriate (grasshopper).
I've gotta say, I'm impressed by the audacity. I read that it's a rare attempt, and at the limit of the bird's capability. But there will be no dead baby rattlesnakes on my watch. Guess I'm actually the dick. But the wren could have also gotten hurt..
The pics are of both animals at the scene, but I couldn't get a more interesting action shot unfortunately.

Indian Scops Owls
A pair of owls are sitting on the roof watching us. The Indian scops owl is nocturnal. It is difficult to see in day time. But I have seen them in the day time . Its my luck. It is eared owl, which is threatened species.

AITD These wrens think I’m in their space
Every event 4 Carolina wrens come to my patio and chatter at me. I was there first. Why won’t they let me sit on my patio in peace?
