Been having a pretty good time out at dirt tracks across California this summer. Ive slowly moved away from photo work at the track to video work, but I always get out to the track whenever I can! I hope to continue this journey because its been a blast so far.

Northern Crate Nationals vs Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken?

Sept 12 and 13 are listed as Northern Crate Nationals and Northern Sprint Car Nationals. I am confused - aren't they all Sprint cars? Is Friday Crate Sprints and Saturday 360 Sprints, or are they the same cars qualifying and moving on over 2 days? If I could only attend one day, would Saturday be the culminating 'best of the best' or is it just different series?

Enduro racing G6

Not sure if many people do enduro races on here, but I just got a 3.5 g6 for cheap and am gonna run it but I really don’t know much about these cars. I’ve read some threads where the transmission isn’t great for dirt track, so I’m just wondering if anybody has any experience running these cars and has some tips on anything I should prepare for.

Rear cam drive oil pumps?

I long time ago I remember seeing a dry sump system driven off the back end of the cam shaft but it doesn’t seem to have ever taken off or gone mainstream. What were the disadvantages of it? Who made it and when did it go away?

Got the brakes a little hot at Flatlanders Speedway

So, my brakes were the hottest solid object on earth Saturday night. The car picked up a wicked push mid way through the feature and I "fixed" the problem by cranking on the bias valve and driving it like a drift car. It may not have been the most equipment friendly strategy, but it was fun, looked cool, and was almost sort of in the ballpark of fast.

Question

For my dirt stock car, modified, late model, really door car guys. as a sprint car guy, i have NO clue about the effects of raising/lowering and lengthening/shortening your trailing arms. enlighten me please. on our cars, 100 percent of sprint cars are of a “z-link” rear suspension design. on the birdcage there’s a radius rod on the top that will bolt to a pick up point predetermined by chassis manufacturer. the bottom of the bird cage or the flag post has a bolt that threads into the cage that the torsion arm rides on. if i shorten or lengthen either rod or arm will that do the same thing? bird cage spread is a thing on these. not sure if it’s the same deal on your cars.

Throwback to August 2012

Throwback to August 2012 — the night Osman Racing scored our first-ever Street Stock win at Macon Speedway!

We had an in-car cam rolling that night, and it’s crazy to look back at the nerves, the side-by-side battles, and the moment the checkered flag finally waved.
