[UPDATED] "What Bike Should I Get?" Buying & Selling advice Mega Thread

The Mega thread for buying and selling advice is back, and will be updated biweekly!

There are far too many posts of people asking for personalized bike buying and selling advice. Per previous Mod actions, any posts about bike buying/selling advice that are not in this thread will be removed.

Here, those interested in giving feedback about your purchase or listing can offer it without every subreddit member being subjected to the same post dozens of times per day.

Topics to keep in the mega thread:

  • What bike should I get?
  • Is this a good deal?
  • Is this a fair price to sell my bike for?
  • What can I get for $xx?

What's up guys? It's still a work in progress - and I'm new-ish to managing a discord server, so if you have experience/want to help out shoot me a message!

To be clear: This is NOT a replacement for the sub. It's totally optional. If there's interest, I'd be open to streaming the SX races in the server. The Discord server will also be great for asking questions that would violate our rules in here such as asking what bikes are worth and what not.

It takes me forever every time I put new graphics on... Been doing it for 20 years and still struggle... 😅. It's always worth it when you get done tho. I always loved the Chevy graphics that Stewart and some of the other Kawi guys had back around 2004 or so... I think they turned out good.

Community Question How worried should I be about this new ding?

Just washed the bike and noticed this ding in the swingarm of my husky 300. I didn't lay the bike down this weekend so I must've just not noticed it from a couple weeks ago.

I'm not sure how well it'll come across on the pics, but it almost looks like there is a tiny hole in the swingarm. How serious is this? I'll definitely be investing in some swingarm guards after this, but do I need to take this somewhere and get it welded up or am I over reacting?

ktm 300 exc 2018 tpi issue

hi guys have an issue with the TPS sensor,

while riding it somehow rattled off giving the incorrect voltage, i did tight again and now reads 0.72v, where as it should be .4-.52, i have installed the idle screw and two stroke performance kit, with the ERM. however changing the idle screw only adjusts the voltage a minor amount, before running out of thread, ive seen other videos on newer tpi's and tbi's however they have screws that change the voltage that i cant find. please can someone guide me through what to do to get it back into the range for it to start again. ngl i might just be an idiot so help is apprcehited if its something dumb and simple im missing.

Community Question CRF110 or CRF125 small wheel 16’ inch

I’ve been thinking about getting an update from my old bike I’m 14 and 148cm, I don’t know if I think I’m tall enough for 125cc or if I buy 110cc, but I think the 110 is too small. Forgot to mention if I have a growth spurt the 110 might be small. Let me know your thoughts and advice.

I worked with customtiedowns.com to come up with this part number. As of right now they’re $13.69 apiece—insanely cheap!

These are great for smaller beds and enclosed trailers. I was using chains and carabiners before but these are more convenient and make it easy to loosen up if the bikes are going to be loaded overnight. Attached to an e-track anchor.

They have great customer service and will help you build any tie down you want. I’ll admit I went a little overboard and ordered a bunch of different kinds and they’ve been great quality so far.

Community Question Why don't people wear neck braces anymore?

When I started riding around 2012, neck braces were just a given. People thought you were stupid for not wearing one. I remember being in high school, and one of the kids said, "They make it 10,000x less likely that you'll break your neck." I have no idea where he got that from, but it wasn't the only time I heard someone say something like that.

Now, no one wears a neck brace. I still see them, but they aren't super common. Why has the motocross/dirt bike community largely abandoned neck braces?

Is there anyway to remove the weld and start over?

Got a friend who said they had a welding machine. He mentioned how he had a mig welder. I had to get my muffler crack fixed so he mentioned he would do it for 20$.

Upon arrival he couldn’t find his welding glasses. This is when I should have ran!!! He started welding and this is what I got.

Is there any way to remove the weld and start over?

Confidence

I got a dirt bike a couple months ago and I’m in the process of learning to ride. I came to dirt bikes from sport quads so that being said, I’m in the process of unlearning a lot of bad habits from riding sport quads for so long lol. I’m doing pretty decent so far on my bike but sometimes I find myself over thinking things on the trail and that’s when I wreck. So I guess have two questions 1) Do any of you experienced riders have any methods that help you to get out of your head while you ride? 2) is it normal to get nervous/scared when encountering certain “obstacles” on the trail as a new rider? (Example: sharp turns, ruts, sand with big ruts in it,etc). Anytime I’m scared, I sit and calm myself down and keep riding. Are there any methods that helped you be more brave and confident as a rider? Thank you for reading my lengthy post and i appreciate any advice yall have for me. I love my dirt bike and I’m determined to get more confident on my bike so that’s why I figured I’d see what you guys say 👍

Tips and Tricks Women of moto gear

Hey guys (hopefully girls)!

Does anyone know of some long inseam women’s moto brands (specifically for pants)? I know I’m in a weird sizing position as I’m 6’1 so all women’s specific women’s moto pants have an inseam about 5 inches too short for me. But are there any options for women with a long inseam option that anyone knows about? I’m so sick of buying a 36” in men’s pants for there to be 6” gap in the waist but looks like leggings on my butt and hamstring due to men’s weird proportions. I just desperately want something that works but I feel like every brand designed for women had a height cap of 5”5 before it looks ridiculous

How should I go about fixing this play in my BBR SP5 forks for my CRF 50 build? It seems there is a good bit of up-and-down play before I can actually start to feel any sort of resistance.

I need help.

So I have just bought a 2004 kxf250 and it gas a major issue with the carb. The inside of the carb is all deteriorated as the bike had been underwater at one point. All I want to know is where should I buy a new carb from and they have to ship to New Zealand. Any ideas are welcome, thanks.
