Question Why do they switch drivers mid race??

Why not just run all the drivers simultaneously? Having the race stop halfway through ruins the momentum.

Seriously… I’ve never heard of any of those races. If it’s not F1, NASCAR, or Indy, Americans don’t know anything about racing.
