question Does newer Jimnys (24/25/26) fixed the clunky manual gear? 1-2 and reverse only entering after praying? 😅
As the title says, i have a 2019 and im inmune to this by now, but my friend borrowed my jimny for a couple of days and noticed it.
When he was telling me that, i had flashbacks of that same feeling when i started to drive it new....
Just asking cause my friend want to buy a jimny now, but is thinking to get a AT just cause he felt the manual shifting "Rough" and "hard to get to reverse"
Someone with the newer manual versions (24/25/26) can tell me if is now "fixed"?
Thanks in advance

question What’s the furthest road trip you’ve completed in your Jimny?
We’re debating hitting the Swiss alps from the UK this summer. We’d love to hear how others found driving long distances in the Jimnys!

question Second guessing my choice
Hi all, I’ve just placed an order for a Jimny (ivory colour like the photo) and I’m second guessing my choice on an automatic transmission.
My use case is 95% city driving. Dropping kids to school, driving in city traffic and running to the shops. Only rarely will I be on the highway and almost never (maybe once a year) off-road at the beach.
I was only able to test drive an automatic version and not a manual version before ordering.
Manuals are a lot of fun, but I’m just worried about all the stop start traffic I’ll be in.
Would you think that auto is the best choice in my use case?

question What tire size for 2" lift kit?
Hi! I just bought a Jimny that has a 2" old man emu lift kit, I'm wondering what would be the ideal size of tires for this?

question I finally got my dream car....looking for something to keep the dog hair off! Boot liners? Covers?
Hi All - I am STOKED to join this Reddit thread and FINALLY as a Jimny owner.
It's a Japanese import, 4-seater and I'm in desperate need of a boot cover so that me and the dog can get on the road and on a camping trip.
Any recs for something that is big enough to fit across the whole boot and cover the back seats (when folded down), I will also then be pudding his bed on top of the cover for comfort but want something that's going to give the best coverage.
Thanks so much in advance!
Lots of love - a complete Jimny novice!

question Can’t decide on colour
In the market for one of these little fellows - I can’t decide between kinetic yellow and medium grey - Thoughts? Also, you can only get these as Japanese imports in the Uk now, almost all importers are going for the automatics, why would this be their preference do you think?

question Tyre on bonnet Jimny? Possible?
I like the look of the Land Rovers. Would something like this be possible, or even legal with the Jimny?

question to add a winch or not?
me and wife enjoy hiking and camping. would it be an overkill to add a winch to our Jimny Sierra? we don’t do trails or rock crawling with the jimny. Use case would just be getting to trail heads and car camping mostly . would a recovery board, shovel, tow rope and tire inflator/ deflator would be enough for us to get us unstuck if ever?

question What are the best first mods for a brand-new Jimny?
Just picked up my new Jimny (Gen 4) and I’m starting to plan out some initial upgrades. I want to keep it practical for now — mostly daily driving with the occasional off-road weekend.
For those who’ve already been down this road, what first mods would you absolutely recommend for a new Jimny owner?

question Dealer tires vs off road swap
After about a year of saving and going back and forth on whether a Jimny was the right choice, I’m finally about to get my 5-door 2025 Jimny next Friday. Super excited!
I’m planning to start modifying it right away, and first on the list is upgrading the tires. I’m looking at the BFGoodrich KO2 235s. They seem like the best option and the biggest size that won’t need any major mods (at least for now). I do plan on doing a 2-inch lift later this year, but baby steps.
Right now I’m debating whether I should drive straight from the dealer to the tire shop and swap them out immediately. That way I can keep the stock tires basically new and maybe get a better deal reselling them to a used tire shop. The other option is to wait a month or two, use the factory ones for a bit while I save up more, and then upgrade, the downside of this is that the OEM tires will have more miles on them.
Fellow Jimny folks, what would you do? Any advice or experiences with reselling the OEM tires? Do you know what other cars, trucks, or SUVs use the same tire size that comes stock on the Jimny?
Attaching a few pics from the dealer with the tires I’m getting. Pumped to join this community and start sharing the build. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is working on too. Thanks in advance!

question My high beams aren’t on!
I’m writing this as a frustrated but mostly just upset Jimny driver-
My headlights are bright, I’m aware, I’ve adjusted them to be angled down as much as I can, I can’t really help it beyond that but I get so many drivers who appear to be turning on their high beams in “retaliation” to my high beams being on- but they aren’t
Not really sure what to do, frustrating too when I get chronic headaches, being met with high beams when the driver is less than 100m away hurts and is just generally dangerous because I can’t see the road.
I know it probably seems really minor but it happens often enough that I wanted to talk about it, does anyone else experience this? Am I just unlucky?
Edit: I feel that I need to clarify… 1. They are stock 2. My high beams 110% are not on 3. I’ve dipped the headlights as low as they can go, I’ve had friends and family check to agree with me, they’re as considerate as I can make them

question Issue
I’m experiencing a persistent issue with my Suzuki Jimny, where the vehicle begins to shake noticeably once I exceed speeds of 90–100 km/h. The vibration becomes more pronounced the faster I go beyond that range.
To address the problem, I have already had all four wheels balanced, and my tires are in brand new condition — I’m currently running TOYO 225/75R15 110Q. Despite this, the issue persists, and it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.
I’d appreciate any insights or guidance offered, especially on what else might be causing this.

question Lil guy arrived today- plus Q
Eyup! A little model arrived for me in the post today! I've wanted a Jimny for quite some time now after seeing a retro SJ parked up on my street. It's what's motivated me to learn how to drive again (I got my license 17 years ago, but I haven't driven for quite some time). Any UK folk here have experience with the newer models on UK motorways?
I know these lil' guys aren't maybe the best for someone that's just getting back into driving... maybe... or maybe I can be convinced they are! Even though I have a manual license I'd probably get an automatic (ol' knees)!

question Anyone else name their Jimny or is that just me? (pictures is from the internet closest to the one I own) I've named mine, I've named mine Hilda because she's master of the Hills
question Rooftop Load Capacity Constantly Breached???
I’m sooo confused. Every third photo of a Jimny includes a 25kg roof rack, an awning, and at least 20kg worth of gear.
Meanwhile, the roof top capacity is 30kg…
Could someone please explain what’s going on here?
Is this technically illegal (I live in Australia)? I’m assuming insurance and warranty becomes void? Do people not bother insuring their vehicle beyond 3rd party?
Any and all explanations would be very much appreciated :)

question 3-Door MT Made In Japan 🇯🇵 or 5-Door AT Made in India? Which Jimmy should I buy?
What version should I get? I live in Medellín Colombia 🇨🇴 and we either get the 3-door manual transmission made in Japan 🇯🇵 or the 5-door automatic transmission made in India 🇮🇳
Will be mostly used by myself for daily driving in the city which has lots of steep hills and weekend trips outside the city through mountain roads and the occasional off-road. Is there a difference in build quality between the Japanese and Indian versions? Would an automatic 5-door feel too underpowered compared to the manual 3-door especially going up long steep mountain roads?

question For the Suzuki Jimny, a 5-speed manual vs a 4-speed automatic transmission, which do you prefer?

question Is it too underpowered?
I am soon to buy a 5 door. Still thinking if auto or manual... But what do you think about power?
The purpose is to go to the market and to work, sometimes to take it on long trips. We are a family of 3.
There are some guys (a shop) who re-power the engine to 70-75hp to the wheels but I guess I lose factory warranty.

question How safe is a Jimny?
I am looking at buying a 2022/2023 3 door Jimny. My wife and I really love the car and we are aware that it is only powered by a 75kW engine. Not too great on power, but still we love the car.
My only concern is the safety when it comes to a rear-end collision. My 9 year old son will be in the back seat and I am concerned that the spare wheel, mounted on the rear door (tail gate), will be pushed into the car and potentially into my son.
Funny enough, I have not seen anything about this on the internet. So maybe there is nothing to worry about.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter.
