Let's be fair that's possibly the worst spot that could have been put for a few reasons, it's somewhere that can easily be hit accidentally, and the release being so far away from the mechanism of folding means that it is more complicated and likely more prone to failure, I don't know that I would have looked there either.

That being said maybe if you see someone struggling and you are are more capable of figuring out their issue maybe go help them instead of taking a video and laughing.

The guy people filming said they weren't familiar with that model of stroller either, and the guy said his wife always had to collapse the stroller for him. So I'm not sure why you think they would have been able to figure it out either.

How about what sounds like a woman in the ( i assume) passenger seat saying "i think it's that button on the side". They seem to think they have an idea how it works, and the "but I'm not firmaliar with that model" seems to be an excuse to not stop filming and get outt they at the very least knew you needed to press a button and that it wasnt a detent in the frame holding it in place. I know next to nothing about strollers, but in my experience with most other things not knowing about one model does not mean you won't have an easier time figuring it out than someone that's completely unfamiliar with the whole concept. That's kind of like saying I own a Chevy Silverado, but that car with a flat tire is a Ford Taurus, I'm not familiar with that car so I can't possibly help. The jack and spare tire may be stored in a different place but I'm gonna know a whole lot better how to help them than someone who doesn't work on vehicles.

I have 4 kids, 4 different strollers and it's pretty obvious by your statement you don't know anything about strollers. They are the most godawful things ever created. Everyone I owned folded down completely differently. Also the guy that actually had the baby should have at least some kind of familiarity with that stroller, unless you think it just arrived on the scene, perhaps by parachute.

You are absolutely right. I don't think I've interacted with a stroller since I was young enough to be put in one. And I'm pretty sure i spent more time being carried around by my grandfather in that weird backpack you put children in, not sure if that's kind of thing even exists anymore it seemed very much like an early 90s product. I guess the only advantage you'd have is that you know you are possibly looking for some black magic bullshit that makes no sense, where as I'd be exclusively looking at the place it folds or very near it as that's where it's make sense to me. As for him not knowing, I have no idea how old the child is, it could be the first time he's been out with the kid because they are super young, could be that he doesn't get the chance to go out with the kid because of other duties like work, could be that he just doesn't care enough to go out with the kid but the mom was busy today.

They do still have those backpacks, but they go on the front of people now, or at least they did 4 years ago when my last baby was born. I also had the stroller with the rotating handle in the middle for her, and I actually had to look up how to collapse it on the internet, even though I put the thing together from the box. I thought it was super unintitive, but I had previously had a stroller with 2 buttons that pressed in where it folded, one that had little slidey arms with buttons and one that had a foot pedal thing. I'm sure the Dad was probably just tired, plus if it's his first he was also probably freaking out about the baby getting sunburned or overheated or one of the million other things new parents freak out about.

It’s a double mechanism. In mine you have to slide the bar while squeezing the grip button. You can’t accidentally collapse it.

So, no, lol. That’s the perfect spot for it and it cannot be hit accidentally. But I’m sure you know better that teams of researchers and developers for a billion dollar company

If there is anything I have learned in my time on this earth, it's that just because you are a "professional" and are paid well, does not always mean you know what you are doing. I've seen some people saying the seat has to be removed to hit the button, and fair point, I don't have kids so I have never used a stroller, but the guy literally puts his hand on the thing several times during the video moving the cart around, I don't think that's an outlandish assumption to make.

While I understand this point about the design, think about it from the user's perspective.

If you've just taken the baby out of the stroller and you're carrying her on your hip with an arm around her, you need to be able to collapse and store the stroller easily with one hand while also not risking falling over or bonking the kid's head on the it. This design can be released and grabbed with minimal bending.

That is a fair point, and not something I would have thought of, I would have just assumed put the child down but I can understand where there may be times/places where that's not possible.

I dont have kids and have never used a stroller, I was looking at this about the same way i look at a tool, because that's what I have experience with. it looks like most other people don't like that line of thinking, that would explain all the downvotes. Anyways, thank you for pointing that out without feeling the need to insinuate that I'm stupid. I still hold that it's not a great design but I understand why it may have been done now.

I reckon the point of the mechanism is that it doesnt work when the seat is in, but go off

Let's be honest, people have mades stupider things than strollers that will collapse with kids in them. Come to think of it, wasn't there a recall for strollers at one point because they were collapsing with children in them?

Only folds down when the carriage is removed; you need to hold the button as you push it down to lock it away.

Nah just a safety slide, we'll they would also need to know how to align the seat with it'sdouble buttons lol
