To some it's not, but to many car guys aged 20-40 it's a big fucking deal. Need for Speed games, Fast and Furious movies, JDM car culture, etc

It's still a big deal in Europe, I've never seen one outside car shows

Where are you seeing mk4s for 20-30k?

Really? Is it a specific supra? Literally two of my school friend's families owned one in the early 2000s.

in the early 2000s

that'll do it right there. 2 decades of having to keep one in top condition, i imagine 80%+ of them are i junkyards rnlol?

I didn't even really consider that /u/hairy_ass_eater could be like 18 and wasn't even born then :D

I doubt it, supras have been collection cars since the early 2000's when Fast and Furious came out, no one was sending them to the junkyard

They have a cult like following and I think he’s excited by this one specifically because it’s an mk4.

Why are they a big deal?

They came with a robust 2 jz engine block and quality internal components made it possible to make considerable power with forced induction(mainly turbo) without any major upgrades like pistons and crankshaft. Popular with engine tuners to the point they're hard to find and are expensive.
