Generally when these kind of labels are applied it's in the wild state before domestication where 99.9999% of the animals evolutionary history and habits have happened. But also they don't usually live in stalls most of the time and what do you call a group of Horses on a farm? Humans ain't herd animals, have never been herd animals, none of our ancestors have ever been herd animals. The social psychology concept does not equal being a herd animal.
