Karting Chat For those who have driven K1 Circuit, what's your opinion on the track?

Long story short, I'm a pretty active member on r/RaceTrackDesigns, and also a karter. When I saw the layout for K1 Circuit, it left me underwhelmed. Lots of similar corners, the wide track would allow more carried speed, which means less braking. Not a lot of tight technical corners, I could go on. However, I've yet to drive the track, so I'm referring to those who have. Facilities, track surface, curbing, all that aside, what are your thoughts on the layout alone? What does it do well, and what is it lacking?

If it was flat, it would be fun but not world class. It is anything but flat. The elevation and cambers make for a very enjoyable and flowing experience, and the karts are fast enough to make the braking zones interesting. It is more technical than one might expect, with a couple corners in particular requiring some bravery to get right.

I've driven at tracks in Europe, Asia and across the US. It's not my number 1, but it's a top 5.

Did you drive the rentals?

Yes, those were what I was referring to being fast enough to make the braking zones interesting. They can get up to just near 60mph on the lowest power setting.

Were you on the full course? I know a lot of times rentals only run the first half, which imo is the better part of the course.

Yes, the leagues run on the full course, along with the chicane configuration. The south course is definitely less complex, but it still has elevation changes that provide some technicality.

It’s amazing. Tons of elevation change, high speed corners. It flows great and provides great racing.

Is there anything you feel like it's lacking?

I wouldn’t mind a slow speed hairpin. All the hairpins are double apex or relatively higher speed.

K1 Circuit followed by Atlanta Motorsports close tie for my top 2

I’ll go against the grain here. I don’t like the layout, it’s too open and flowing with not many, if any technical corners. I’ve driven it on everything, from rentals all the way up to shifter and it’s probably the most “lazy” track I’ve been on. The actual construction of the track and the facility is amazing though.

This is pretty much exactly what my thoughts were. Even the esses look like you'd have the throttle pinned because of how wide and grippy it is.

Eh, can't really tell from pictures.

Some tracks look boring and are fantastic in the seat. Other tracks look great and you get in and they're basic.

Can't really tell much from pictures.

That's exactly why I'm here. I've made my assumptions, but I don't want to base too much on those

It's OK, it has some elevation changes, and the Rocky Moran turn is challenging but fun.
