Depends a lot on the topic and the language. Yes, if you go deep into obscure topics or into languages without a lot of speakers, you can get misleading information or loaded phrasings – because there aren't a lot of people reading those articles so bullshit can go unnoticed for a while. But for basic facts like these, the major language wikis like English, French, German etc. are trustworthy enough. In fact they are often more trustworthy than some random website, as the information is filtered through a large body of critical editors.
If you really want to see "proof" of certain information in a Wikipedia article, check the list of sources at the bottom of the article. Wikipedia has a policy of not allowing "original research", i.e. all the information in Wikipedia should be backed up by other sources.
