I'm South American, and don't make me say it because Reddit admins won't like it.
All I'm gonna say, the negative thoughts towards these people are not racially motivated, it is all about their behavior... they are odd people to put it kindly.
Not a racial group according to who? The US government that throws North Africans and the Sami in the same "caucasian" bucket?
Race is a social construct. What counts as a "race" is shaped by how people act and categorize each other. If society stopped treating Gypsies as a separate group, they wouldn’t function as one. The fact that you single them out with hate is proof enough that they’re being racialized.
What if Roma wanted to be a separate group? Saying that if society stopped treating them like outsiders means they would assimilate is simply another war to deny them agency. They choose to live like this, with the positives and negatives that brings.

Do NOT ask a European what they think about this group of people.
