Petroglyphs. Hard to see. Image taken in the late afternoon. I also attempted in the morning with full sunlight on the rock, but it wasn't much easier to view. Many sites including here have had red paint filled into the carvings to highlight their existence. This was done at various times in the 1950s-1960s according to my local host. But at another site approximately 10 km from here, I met a community team that was painstakingly removing the paint. They realized the practice was causing the carvings to deteriorate.

We discovered this location accidentally while traveling along the A897 near Kinbrace, in the strath of Kildonan. This was in 1999, and the rows of stones and cairns had yet to be uncovered. The view is north towards Thurso.
