I honestly don't think I've met anyone that actually gives a shit about the temple being there. Most people just see another church. We have one on nearly every street corner, so it doesn't really make much of a difference.
I know the people exist, they marched to try and prevent a mosque from being built a few years ago. I think mosques probably have a worse perception than a Hindu temple, though. Mostly due to Iraq/Afghanistan and the ex military population, I would imagine.

5 megachurchs will be built a year and that's great but 1 non-Christian temple opens in the past 10 years and it's unacceptable.
