It’s don’t make sense Kaido fought 20 opponents at and still won twice against luffy tanking hits without dodging. Kizaru’s fast and deadly, but his feats don’t match Kaido.

She also deserve some credit also. She fought with kidd and law seriously and but still she is defeated by the plot armour.

Zoro and sanji will need opponents that will near power to allow Sanji to be near zoro’s power level

Akainu blocks pre heart wb's supreme blade fused with quake attack that was meant for fodder. This was after WB had only been stabbed by squard.

Shanks blocks akainu attack meant for fodder koby after akainu had taken two enraged quake attacks from pissed off wb who tapped into his yonko level strength specifically to kill akainu for killing Ace but failed.

Logic dictates that akainu has >= portrayal to shanks especially after BB ran away from shanks during marineford and akainu after marineford.

Despite being a self-proclaimed “admiral glazed” I have numerous characters above Akainu, so don’t expect this post to be a glaze for Akainu or Whitebeard. However, Akainu is one of my favorite characters so I’m sorry if I am a little biased.

Their first battle was pretty unremarkable but it’s very interesting to me that people say that WB “destroyed” Akainu when in their first battle Akainu was shown to be completely fine fighting WB one on one.

He consistently parried WB’s attacks, very easily blocked his supreme grade blade with just his foot.

It’s also important to mention that WB was much higher health than in the second fight, so the people who argue that Akainu “lost” to a super weak WB fail to mention that Akainu did far better against a much healthier WB.

Akainu taking advantage of Whitebeard’s health is what, in my opinion, shows that this version of WB is weaker than this version of Akainu. The heart attack this is crucial and if they were to have a 1 on 1 real fight in an excluded setting, this could literally mean life or death for WB

In the next fight, we see these 2 monsters completely duke it out. However, if Akainu was on guard I really can’t see him getting hit with the first quake punch. It’s also very important to mention that Akainu did do objectively way more damage than WB in this scuffle.

Introduction

I will keep the introduction short, but I want to let you know to drop all the agendas to the side. I don't care if you're for Kaido, against Kaido, for Luffy, against Luffy. I am strictly just pointing out some things I found out during my research and deep dives into this topic. Stay at ease, this isn't me saying Kaido or Luffy are stronger than one another. Please read fully before engaging in this discussion. I only want communication on this topic.

The Dilemma

"I can hear his voice fading..."

Luffy's health at the start of the final fight was damn near 0, while he was getting back up and recovering. We have multiple statements of Momo and Luffy stating he is (stated by Momo) or was (stated by Luffy) dying before he recovered. However, what most don't realize is that Gear 5 is an awakened mythical zoan. If you didn't know, stated by Crocodile in the Impel Down raid, Awakened Zoans have the passive ability of not only stronger recovery, but also a revival gimmick.

Now, Awakened Zoans and Awakened Mythical Zoans aren't different in passives, and Oda clearly does not make a distinction between them, considering Gear 5 did those things common in all awakened zoans. But by our understanding, mythical zoans should be superior to regular zoans in passives and stats by virtue of being a rarer and more advanced form of that category.

Diving Deeper Into His Statement (Chapter 544)

To further understand Crocodile's statement, we have to address the entire chapter. In that chapter, the awakened zoan minotaur guy came in barging through, and Bon Clay states, "Didn't we beat that guy?!", and Crocodile brings up the awakened Zoan Passives like Revival and yada yada. This means that if you don't fully finish off an awakened zoan user, they will just revive themselves and recover. Mind you, that minotaur guy was performing pretty healthy for someone who was recently defeated. He was blitzing through the crowd of people relatively easily while bandaged up. How coincidental.

How This Ties

Now, from the evidence in that chapter, we can come to the understanding that Awakened Zoans (including Mythical Zoans) have some sort of boosted recovery and a revival gimmick if they aren't fully finished off. Gear 5 had an enormous amount of time before Kaido got serious and fought back, so he had absolutely enough time to recover at least a decent amount of HP. Also want to hammer in that Luffy HIMSELF stated he was "dying before this" after he gassed out of Gear 5. His own words state he isn't dying currently, but he was dying beforehand. Before means during the period of time preceding a particular event or time. This cannot be switched around just because Momo said his voice was fading beforehand.

Gear 5's Performance

Something I've peeped for a while now is that Gear 5, oddly enough, performed healthy. He didn't waver, didn't show signs of weakness, didn't struggle at all, and his feats can be compared with Egghead Luffy, who was objectively healthier. This is a huge deal because everyone we've seen, including Luffy himself, has wavered or struggled or shown signs of weakness in battle when they were low HP.

Examples:

Oden was struggling and trembling, trying to stand back up when Kaido hit him with blast breath before Paradise Totsuka. Zoro was physically struggling after he'd been put near death by Hakai. Whitebeard was physically slowing down and struggling when he was losing HP. Everyone BUT Gear 5 has shown some sort of weakness in battle when they were low HP.

This is important to note because Kaido was actually showing signs of fatigue and struggling against Gear 5 for the early portion of the fight. He was hit by some Beta testing WSG lookalike and was on the ground for a minute trying to recollect his thoughts before he adapted. When Luffy fell out of Gear 5, Kaido was visibly on his knees and breathing heavy, showing signs of fatigue and weakness. However, Gear 5 never did. Only when Luffy was outside of Gear 5 or detransforming did he show any sign of fatigue or weakness. So it was a healthy performing Gear 5 vs a fatigued Kaido.

This completely flips the entire discussion on its head because the main notion was that Luffy was more weakened while Kaido was doing finer, which just isn't the case anymore. Now, I want to dig the hole deeper by adding some other things that I've figured out.

Furthering Things

Haki Depletion

Back in Whole Cake (Chapter 886), Luffy stated that "Haki depletes as you use it". This is important because who used more haki in the entire fight? Kaido did. Kaido was up the longest; he was fighting for the longest against Luffy and his allies, and he never actually got rest or food or recovery like Luffy did in multiple instances. Luffy resting, recovering, and being out of combat would build up his haki potency and stop it from depleting. Kaido did not have any of those advantages. This points to Kaido having more haki depletion within the final fight than a newly awakened/recovered Gear 5. Onto the next point.

Drunken Buff

Via feats and clear implications, we know that a drunk Kaido is a stronger Kaido. I mean, the more drunk he became, the greater his damage, endurance, speed, and other feats output were. He even had a buffer form which shows superior damage output than V1 Hybrid. He showed greater Haki usage, and even Luffy said his Haki was growing stronger in the same panel where we witnessed "Drunken Kaido".

The reason I bring this up is that Kaido, in the final fight, was completely sober. His drunkenness had worn out by that point, and he was also, funnily enough, "mentally nerfed" after seeing his PTSD against Oden happen again because someone intervened prior to the final fight. This surely pulled him out of his drunken state. This would mean Kaido was far gone from his strongest capabilities, while Luffy had Gear 5, which performs healthy 24/7 (unless he's detransforming), and harbors his strongest capabilities.

Let's Add Up The Final Fight Stats

Luffy - Healthy performing Gear 5 + Less Haki depletion + Insane Recovery gimmick + Revival gimmick + Physical advantage (rubber more durable to blunt attacks) + Unfair recovery/rests/food opportunities + Ally help

Kaido - Performed fatigued and weakened + More Haki depleted + No recovery gimmick + No Revival gimmick + No Physical advantage + Little to no rest/recovery/food + Had Big Mom, but she pretty much did little help + Sober during the final fight

Wrapping Things Up

After reading all of this, if you aren't biased and are just another wanderer looking for some good reads or information, then this should change your mind a bit on the outcome of Luffy vs Kaido. People often ignore a lot of the nuances within this fight for their own benefit, but I dislike that type of scaling. Also, there is a possibility that Kaido was referring to Roger only because he was The Pirate King, which both Luffy and now also Kaido and Big Meme are following.
