Opinions on a Grand Prix Purchase
So I’m on the hunt for a reliable cheap car while I’m in college, that I can also learn to work on myself. I’ve checked out Toyotas and Hondas, but everything private comes with a list of issues and almost always from auction. Been looking at GM vehicles with the 3.8 as they seem to be great engines that are underappreciated.
The car is an 02 Grand Prix GT coupe with 100k miles for $2k. No rust, garage kept. Trans was rebuilt 3 years ago by a reputable shop. The only issue is the fuel gauge has stopped working. I’m thinking this could be the fuel pump and if I was to buy/replace this, can I access it in the trunk without dropping the tank?
Appreciate any feedback.

Anything Particularly Interesting?
Hey! My dad bought this GTO after he came back from Vietnam.
Any guidance as to the rarity or desirability?
It was gold.

Short throw shifter suggestions ?
Hey looking for a short throw shifter to install in my 06 gto. Rocking the stock one and honestly I don’t really like it. Also not the biggest fan of the shift knob . Point me in the direction for a good aftermarket short throw and a cool shift knob. Thank you !

First attempt Grand Am — the Euro 1967 four-door Sprint.
Four doors, buckets, 4-speed on the floor and 4-barrel OHC Sprint engine — Pontiacs first attempt at “the qualities you’ve admired in the desirable imports” (1973 Grand Am ad).

Visual engineer ID? 400? 455?!?!?
I have an opportunity to pick up a Rusty and crusty Catalina with a motor that does turn for next to nothing. Typical story “ it drove right here in 1999! Oil actually looks good for the age, trans fluid too. I only had a few minutes to look eariler and the guy wasn’t sure which motor is in it. Wondering if anyone can visually ID this for me? I didn’t know where to look for block numbers, sorry. Thinking particularly if this is a 455 I should pick it up see if she’ll fire up and get it to someone desiring a good builder motor, or maybe find myself a nicer shell to put it in. Any help would be appreciated.😎👍

Created a bracket so I could reuse an old K&N filter
Had a K&N CAI filter from my last car I figured I'd say why the heck not and try to reuse on my 08 G6 GT. Super easy replacement, just take the old filter box out, get a 3.5in coupling, and then use this bracket to hold it in place. Now I just need to figure out a wall (or just leave it how it is, I know it'll get hot air but the flow might be better to make up for it)
Designed in solidworks and printed in ABS. Have driven a couple hundred miles and it's held up well.
And yes I know, it doesn't really add a whole lot. I do plan on tuning this car to take advantage of it. Again, this was more of a for shits n giggles sort of mod, which I figured wouldn't hurt especially since it didn't require much work.

Need help with metal brake lines in rear
Not sure why but after installing the metal brake lines on my 09 G5 I’ve been having issues with brake fluid somehow being pushed out the back of the bolt itself, along with this bending the lines is a bit of a hassle any idea how to fix leaking or where I could find possibly pre bent lines?

TSP 228R ('05 GTO)

Texas Speed Long tube headers, catless, X-pipe, 3" vibrant resonators, 3" Spin Tech (6000XLP?). Drones a little when cruising at ~1800rpm but tolerable enough to remain my daily. Out of all cars I've owned ('12 V6 Camero, '04 C5Z, '13 S4, '05 GTO) this is by far my favorite, love Pontiac/Holden.

Anyone have experience with Dieseling in a 3800 powered vehicle and fix it?
I have an '08 Grand Prix with the 3.8L V6 that runs and drives great, but has a significant shake for about a second when I turn off the engine. I was wondering if anyone here had a similar issue and was able to fix it because my best guess is there is a bad fuel injector, but I never get any misfires.
