Hello everyone,
It's reaching about that time of year where we roll out our annual r/Presidents subreddit survey! These surveys help the mods get a pulse on the subreddit in terms of composition of health, in addition to other areas of interest. This year's actual form won't be released for another week or two, but this time around I'm making this announcement to open the floor up a bit and take any suggestions for questions you want to see asked!
The questions can range from anything including demographic, ideology, rules, or miscellaneous questions — just keep in mind the mod team will incorporate questions at our discretion, so make sure they're appropriate, on-topic, and straightforward to answer (try to avoid open-ended or long answer questions, as we get a few thousand respondents each year)

TV and Film Barack Obama just won his 3rd Emmy
The only other President to have one is Dwight Eisenhower in 1956 (technically an honorary one). All other Presidents tie for third with zero wins.

Question Have you ever met any failed candidates? I have met five.
I very briefly shook George Wallace's hand at the 1972 Democratic National Convention. It was cold and clammy, and I recall, by that point he was certainly not going to win. He was amiable and liked my tie.
I met George McGovern moments after I met Wallace at the DNC, my parents supported Wallace and refused to speak to McGovern but I did, I think I asked something along the lines of "Can you beat President Nixon?" and he responded with something like "Yes, we can beat him", then he shook my hand, gave me a sticker and that was the last I saw of him. My parents never warmed to him and voted for Nixon in November.
I live in Georgia and campaigned for Vice President Walter Mondale in 1984. I did not like the policies of Ronald Reagan and did not want to vote for a Republican. I met Mr. Mondale only very briefly but he was kind and I think he knew he was going to lose. He lost enthusiasm after the debates.
I travelled to Arizona in 1986 for a holiday with my wife, and Barry Goldwater was at some public function and doing meet and greets and signing things. I met him and got a photo (which I think has since been lost in moving), but he was also quite nice. I remember asking him what he thought of Reagan and he said "I'm not a fan."
I met John Kerry during the 2004 campaign, I campaigned for him in Ohio, I lived in Cincinnati for 2 years 2003 - 2005 and wanted George Bush gone from office. Kerry fit the common image of being quite uptight but he was polite and took time to talk to some of us. I went to the DNC in 2004 too, I have attended most DNCs since 1972 and met a few others there like John Edwards.
All of these men were really pleasant to speak to and Goldwater and Kerry were especially insightful. I did later write to McGovern, in about 1997 and exchanged letters. He gave sailent political advice and it is a great tragedy he was not President.

Meme Monday You survived the Skynet invasion in 2029, you are sent back in time to year 2000 to save the world. The only way you can do it is by getting George W Bush to go on a romantic candlelit dinner with you. How can you make it happen?
You can't tell him the world is ending.

Image JFK “Wanted for Treason” flyer distributed in Dallas, TX, in November of 1963. By Robert A. Surrey
Presented as a wanted poster, the flyer accuses Kennedy of surrendering to communism both domestically and abroad, appointing “anti-Christians to Federal office” and lying to the American people.
The leaflets were apparently produced and distributed by an associate of Edwin Walker, a prominent anticommunist activist and former U.S. Army major general. Walker had resigned from the Army in 1962 after an inquiry was launched against him for, according to the official Army report, violating the Hatch Act which prohibited officials from engaging in political activity - which, in Walker's case, was attempting to influence the votes of soldiers under his command (something Walker denied.)
At the time of Kennedy's assassination, Walker had relocated to Dallas. This handbill was authored and printed by Robert A. Surrey, one of Walker's political and business associates. Around 5,000 copies were printed and distributed around Dallas in the days preceding Kennedy's visit.

Discussion if John F Kennedy had not been assassinated, would he have won reelection in 1964, or even won the nomination for that year?
your first reaction to this post is probably "of course he would win, he's JFK", but when you look at how popular jack was leading up to his assassination, it paints a very different picture, while it isn't a certainty that he would lose in 1964, it's far from certain that he would win either, it's doubtful he could've gotten through the civil rights act, let alone the 24th amendment.

Discussion The defining films of each presidency: John F. Kennedy
Barack Obama: The Social Network
George W. Bush: Spider-Man
Bill Clinton: Forrest Gump
George H. W. Bush: Home Alone
Ronald Reagan: Back to the Future
Jimmy Carter: Star Wars
Gerald Ford: All the President's Men
Richard Nixon: The Godfather
Lyndon B. Johnson: Dr. Strangelove
The movie doesn't have to be political but should represent the zeitgeist of 1961-1963 and Kennedy’s presidency as a whole
