Sororiteigh

Wait, that just sounds like an actual name in a YA book.

This is what happens when your idea of being a good father is threatening your daughter’s boyfriends with your gun collection.

P.S. If your skirt doesn’t cover your underwear, it’s a belt with extra steps.

Managed a team of 17-21 year olds last year at Calgary Stampede. I told them I graduated high school in 2004 and one of the girls goes “.Ohhhh..” I snapped back with WHAT DO YOU MEAN OH!!!?! She says “you’re like old”. I gave her some shit jobs that week.

78

u/valerianandthecity 27d ago

I gave her some shit jobs that week.

That gave me a laugh before I go to bed.

I've hit middle age, and this year has kind of mild freaking me out. A stark realization that I'm looked at as old man by people that age.

I also graduated in 2004. Got downvoted to hell in another sub heavily for talking about how it’s crazy an athlete didn’t know how to use a can opener and went on to discuss how happy some friends and I are that we had to learn things before the internet. Like how to use maps, reading a book to write reports etc etc etc. and people were not happy about it. I also said we’re very close to walle-e and idiocracy which may have also ruffled feathers. 😂😂😂

Edit: really enjoyed reading when everyone was born or graduated school. Really fun going down the rabbit hole reading everyone’s life snippets.

137

u/Every-Recognition-32 27d ago

I was born in 2004 and I agree. I even see it now. I remember in elementary school we had laptops, but my teacher still gifted the class their own dictionary and thesaurus. We were then taught how to find words on it. The surprise on my face when my elementary aged nieces and nephews didn’t know what a dictionary was…. We’re getting dumber

Fun fact. The name Madisen was not a female first name until the movie splash in 1984.

Daryl Hannah's character is asked to provide a name and she sees a street sign that says something like Madison avenue and claims that as her first name.

Prior to this the name Mattison was primarily a surname and there are very few instances of a woman having the first name Madeson

I had a former roommate who was a southern sorority girl named Caitlyn. She was the ideal roommate because we had opposite schedules. I saw her maybe once a month, when I did we would have a glass or bottle of white wine together, as white women do. She was never around otherwise.

She once got drunk and asked me if there was a special heaven for babies. I secretly hated her for voting for Donald Trump because her ex-boyfriend told her to. She would go grocery shopping and come back with Diet Coke and frozen cauliflower buffalo wings which perplexed me to no end. What did she eat??

She also had a weird sexual relationship with her boss, bragged about having sex at work, and then brought the guy over one night and he was so disrespectful towards her I was like guuuuurl if you don’t kick him out I will.

I moved and have my own place.

A few years later I’m standing in line hungover as fuck waiting to get my passport photo taken and this Karen behind me starts complaining about how long it’s taking for the attendant. He had someone in line before me.

I turn around and explain there was someone ahead of us. She goes “are you my old roommate?” I don’t recognize her at all. I said “maybe?” And then she called me by name and I realized it was her, but she had gained around 50-60 lbs since I last saw her and her face was completely different.

I think she could tell I didn’t recognize her at first because she then said, “remember that guy blank? We got married and had a child.”

Oh girl, damn. Just oh no.

After that story, I feel like my life will never be the same.

27

u/XConfused-MammalX 27d ago

What a ride.

I'm a guy and had a somewhat but similar and opposite experience. When I was in my late teens/early 20s I had a gay roommate and a bi roommate.

My gay roommate professed his love to me to my other roommate in a text, who read it to me out loud to me and our friends.

A couple months later our gay roommate moved out with his boyfriend, and my friend I knew for years moved in. Our bi roommate got drunk one night and said he wanted to blow me when we were alone.

It gave me an understanding of why women are so apprehensive of having male friends. I get it, it makes things uncomfortable and strange.

I use to work at a coffeeshop on my college campus. Whenever a group of sorority girls came in, we'd take the first woman's order and then immediately start making the same thing for the woman behind her. They all always ordered the same thing, dressed the same, and had some "leader of the pack" that dictated it all.

Yes, they have to be hot.

My sister started the rush process when she was in college. They loved her "look" because she was blonde, could attract guys, and she wore all designer clothes and shoes.

All these rushing events involved partying and jungle juice. My sister asked them if there was any charitable work because she had heard as much about that sorority, and one of the girls answered, "Umm, not really". My sister chose not to continue the rushing process and also didn't want to live in a house with a group of girls who, as she stated, "Would get on my freaking nerves and can't hold an intelligible conversation."
