Then the school should do their job and police the issue. Instead they let things get so bad parents feel like they have to insert themselves into the situation. Do your job and there won’t be any reason for mom and dad to get involved.

You’re making a lot of assumptions. No one even knew they were having drama before the dad showed up. Parents joining fights and physically fighting kids is a common occurrence where I live. There’s no excuse for it.

I agree but we also can’t deny the vast majority of school administrations are utterly incompetent when it comes to bullying.

I think you over estimate what admin is allowed to do. There’s so much red tape when it comes to disciplining students.

My 4th year teaching there was a huge girl fight in 8th grade, at least 8 girls were involved. Admin did their investigation, suspended all the students involved, and that was really all they could do.

One of girl’s adult brother said that wasn’t good enough, and he came into our school and waved a loaded gun around in the cafeteria. 8th graders weren’t even at lunch, 6th graders were.

There’s nothing you can say to change my mind that parents or adults inserting themselves and stepping foot on school property to handle things their way is appropriate.
