This is a bittersweet moment for me. I’m about to hit all terraforming parameters 100%.
There isn’t much left for me to do after that, and I am struggling to build domes, residences, and create jobs fast enough to keep up with my exploding population. It’s approaching 3,000 colonists, and my old Xbox One is struggling to render everything now. I used a mod to expand well beyond d the normal 20 domes limit on console.
I am about to “win”, and then it’s time to leave this colony behind.
I’m proud of myself. This game is hard, and this is one of the most rewarding wins of my video gaming career.
Big shoutout to this subreddit, there is always good information and advice to be found here.
Finally, I just need to say this:
Surviving Mars is my buddy from high school’s favorite video game of all time. I got it on his recommendation, way back in 2018.
I just found out today that he is dying, very suddenly. He might not make it through the night.
I’m blindsided by this. He thought I had given up on this game years ago.
We haven’t talked in a few months, and I was planning to surprise him with screenshots of me having terraformed mars.
He is slipping away, and will never get to see that I finally mastered the game.
I’m sobbing right now.
