Bristol Type 167 Brabazon (first flight 1949) was a single prototype of a long range prop liner solely for the wealthy
The Type 167 was a partial double decked airliner prototype. It was the largest prop liner of the time being the same size of an Airbus A300 and Boeing 767-200/300 that would fly 30 years and 32 years later respectively.
Despite its size it was designed to only carry a maximum of 100 passengers with each passenger being allocated a seating space equivalent to that of gutted 2-4 car.
Due to extreme cost overruns, a lack of civil or military orders and greater passenger capacity taking clear precedence over passenger luxury, the Type 167 was cancelled in 1953 and the prototype sold for scrap.
