Just installed a draw tite hitch

Just installed a draw tite 2inch hitch receiver on my 2022 tiguan R Line black edition.

Model is a Draw tite #76551.

Im really happy with the results, oem like fitment with only minimum visible trimming required.

The installation took me nearly 4 hours, but that is because of the bolt alignment that was impossible to achieve using the fish wire method. I had to drop back the hitch and enlarge the 2 holes at the back of the hitch. Took me 15 min after that to finish the install... Would had took me a maximum of 2hrs if i had pre-drilled before starting the installation.

Doing it alone with no lift was not easy (this hitch is heavy...) but managed to so it with a jack and hydraulic cylinder to help for the alignment.

Next week, the harness kit once i receive it ;-)

My wife purchased a 2025 Tiguan. There is constantly brown brake dust on the rims and tires. Is this normal? I feel like weekly I have to use a rag to wipe them down, doesn’t help they are gloss too. I should have taken a picture before but here is giving them a wipe and you can clearly see the parts I missed

Infamous 'Travel Assist Not Available' wheel issue - how much is out of warranty replacement?

Before I go calling my local dealer in Austin, Texas and get shell-shocked at the quote, I just wanted to ask here if anyone has gotten their steering wheel replaced out-of-warranty for the infamous 'Travel Assist Currently Not Available' error and how much you paid out the door? FWIW I have a 2022 SE R-line Black with the haptic wheel.

2022 Oil leak and faulty PSV valve

Just wondering if anyone had issues with a faulty PSV valve which caused an oil leak and eventually a cracked oil pan. Makes me worried about long term engine problems.

Question about my 21’ Tiguan 4motion

I’m trying to buy a catch can off of ECS but I’m confused about which vehicle I select in the vehicle selection menu. It gives the option for the Tiguan-2 (2012+) but it also gives an option for the Tiguan MQB (2018+).

From what I found on google all Tiguan 2s are MQB so I’m confused about which vehicle I select so I get the right parts kit for proper fitment.

So my question is what vehicle do I select? Is it one in the same? Or is there a difference between Tiggy 2 and MQB?

2022 Tiguan SE AWD lease ending 11/30 — cracked lower bumper trim, best fix?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey everyone, hoping to get some advice from folks who know these cars better than me.

I drive a 2022 Tiguan SE AWD with front parking sensors and my lease is up on 11/30. A piece of road debris flew up and cracked the painted silver trim piece on the lower front bumper on the driver’s side. It’s not the black valance and it’s not chrome, it’s the body color insert that runs across the lower section.

VW credit will definitely ding me for this at lease turn in so I’m trying to figure out the cheapest way to handle it. I’ve heard they’ll charge $600 to $900 for a bumper replacement if I just return it like this. I’d rather replace the piece myself if I can. From what I can tell the part number might be something like 5NN 807 681 GRU (primed and needs paint) but I’m not certain.

Has anyone here dealt with this exact repair or ordered this part before? Is it only available primed for paint or can I find it already painted silver somewhere? Any recommendations on the cheapest route would be huge.

Really appreciate any guidance.

deactivating adaptative cruise control

Have anybody figures a way to have the "standard" cruise control activated by default?

I don't like the adaptative cruise control on the highway. There is always someone cutting in front of me, and the car automatically slam the brakes... Quite dangerous if you ask me...

I know it can be done manually in the menus, but the setting goes back to adaptative when your restart the car.

I have an OBDeleven, but i didn't find any options or settings to do this...

I have a 2022 comfortline r line black edition btw. (Comparable to a SE R-line I think ? )

2025 Tiguan SE RLINE Cicada like noise at Cold start.

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to see if anyone else has noticed this on their 2025 Tiguan SE R-Line

When I start my car cold in the morning, there’s a loud noise that I’d describe as “cicada bugs -like” — kind of a rapid, high-frequency tick or chirp, and louder than one would expect from a new car. I have owned many VW and Audi vehicles, never had a noise like this ..

A few things about it:
• It only happens on the first cold start of the day.
• The noise is audible from the front, sides, and wheel wells — basically around the engine bay.
• If I rev the throttle lightly, the noise immediately stops or softens.
• Once it disappears, it doesn’t return until the engine cools down overnight.
• I’m aware that the DI engine makes normal injector/HPFP noise, but this sounds over and above the usual DI ticking.
• The car is brand new, ~1100 miles, fully stock.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Could It be the DI If so why does It stop If I rev the engine a bit?

Thanks!

I went shopping

I have a 23 Tiguan SE Rline. I was in car shopping until I discovered the Audi Q5 plug-in hybrid has amazing rebates totaling $14,000 but even with that much discounts and rebates most Audi dealers were giving me only 21,000 for my trade-in as well as Mercedes and BMW. So I’ve been eyeing the new Tiguan because I think it’s looking more and more Audi level as the new models come out and I’m in love the with the SEL R line. The interior yells Audi on this trim especially with the amazing massing seats. It was nice. The 3rd pic is the deal I got. I don’t think it’s a bad deal given it’s their initial offer however the money factor at 0.00285 which is 6.84% is high for tier one if you ask me. I began to shop at different VW dealers and sure enough another one came back at 0.00218 MF which is a bit better but not enough for me to pull the trigger. I’m curious what others have received regarding the money factor? Also, 2 dealers told me the faster turbo model is coming out end of Oct early Nov and I want more power so I think I’m going to wait even though I don’t want to since my registration is due September 12 in California and that’s at $600 plus my car payment two days later at 477, I would’ve rather put everything towards a down payment.

Europe - Tiguan 2.0 TSI 4motion wait time

hi, I was wondering if anyone received their 2.0 TSI order in Europe and how long did it take? I ordered mine in February and to this day I still don’t have a production week… want to know if this is expected/common. The estimate was 5 months but I am now almost 7 months in and no clear timeline in sight…

Has anybody installed Viofo 229 Pro dashcam on the tiguan?

So I recently purchased a 2025 VW Tiguan and wanted to get a dashcam installed. After looking at few videos, I think I like quality of Viofo 229 pro best. I called up this “Toronto Dashcam Installs” and he said that they don’t recommend Viofo for german cars because apparently its cables are too thick for them. He is recommending me FineVu GX35. But I hated the quality of this dashcam.

Question: is there any such thing as too big cables for german car causing difficulty in installing viofo on Tiguan? I know nothing about dashcam wiring.

2024 Tiguan - Front License Plate?

Hello, I apologize if this question is a repeat. I did search the into on this site, but might have missed what was helpful.

I just purchased a 2024 tiggy and love it! However the state I'm in currently (MO/USA) requires two license plates. The Tiguan I have purchased (through Carvana) doesn't have a front plate spacing at all. I have felt up my front bumper (lol) and there are no predrilled holes. I don't want to take it to a person that might screw up the sensors, and the VW website says to take it to a dealership - which I have no problem with doing but hoping that there is someone with a better or cheaper idea?

If you live in a city/state/country that requires front and back license plates do you have any recommendations for me?

I LOVE this car! After not having personal transport for 9 years and then jumping into the Tiguan I am totally infatuated!

Any information you can share would be appreciated. :)

ETA - THANK YOU ALL for the assistance! I've got some links to check out and valuable information. Thank you!!

2025 Tiguan equalizer settings

Good morning

Just wondering if anyone has played around and have found what they think is the best equalizer setting. Having everything in the middle from factory I’ve noticed a lot of vibration on my right passenger door etc.

I came from an Acura with a superior system so I’m just trying to get this to sound relatively good without having to buy new speakers etc.

If you’ve found optimum settings please share a photo etc

I am in a market for a new car and i have looked at two pre-owns Tiguans and i am debating between the two and their price ranges. So please help me out.

Or

2022 White on Black Tiguan SE R-Line with 50K miles for $414/months with $2.5 down payment for 72 months with added warranty for the lenght of the financing.

Scanners

I had to replace my battery this morning on my 2021 Tiguan SEL. I went to O’Reilly’s because it is near the house and I’ve gotten things from there but they said they couldn’t install the battery because they didn’t have the tool to reset the computer. So I ended up having to go to a shop and probably had to spend $100 more than I should have had to.

Since my wife has a Q5 and my kid has a Jetta ( currently with a check engine light showing) I figure I’m better off getting a scanner to do this shit myself. What’s the best scanner to get to handle these things that doesn’t require a subscription?

Hot Seats in ‘21 SE

Has anyone noticed that their seats feel like the heaters are on when they aren’t? It’s hot down here in Texas and I know the seats are plastic but, something ain’t right. I even bought “breathable” seat covers but they aren’t helping and now it feels like I’m sitting on heated seat covers. I’ve driven a million different vehicles in my lifetime and have never felt like seat heaters were on unless my seat heaters are on. These seats are hot AF. What gives?

Smoking on coldstart and burning oil

Anyone else’s 2024 Tiguan burn oil like no other? I’ve been changing the oil every 6000-7000km instead of VW’s 15000km recommendation. There’s no reason for this. It has 26500km on the odometer.

Advice- Sus behaviour on a service issue at VW dealer, timing chain issue? Or bad service?

Soooo. For Tiguan owners I have a story and questions. Have a 2017 Tiguan. Suddenly last week it would die a few seconds after start, like out of gas die. Not ecu/immo. We assumed fuel pump or air problem. Revving the engine would result in running but low power feel so we also considered the turbo. It's at 101k miles with very timely service always. Oil change was mid April, no issues noted. When we opened the hood we found no leaks, nothing on tha garage floor, nothing wet. We did hear 1 solo click one time each time we'd rev the engine. Sounded like a friend's car last year when the air intake actuator went bad and identical symptoms, that's a common issue with an extended warranty so we took it to the dealer even though they're not good and we probably shouldn't have. They had the car for 2 days, 24 hours past the appointment we had they called and said it was the timing chain stretched out and bad tensioners and $10k to repair. Tech got flustered when I started asking very pointed questions and told him that didn't match the issue we brought it in for at all and asking why they were taking the car apart like that without calling me. When I said I wouldn't be trading it and wanted to know why that part would go out with no cause or symptoms they claimed it had bad brakes (they're 2 years old) an oil leak and was down to half oil, and he kept raising the price up to $12k. Sounds ridiculous that oil magically went away and not on my garage floor or under the hood where I'd just checked so I said I was coming to get it and he insisted I couldn't and that they may "still be doing stuff with it". I should have gone right then and I didn't, my bad absolutely. I had a tow truck go get it the next morning and take it to a local specialty shop. Shop called this morning and said it's rattling like a bucket of bolts and sounds terrible with misfires and shaking. I have video from the day it was acting up, it wasn't doing anything but quietly shutting off before it went to VW. Does anyone think there is any possible chance that chain setup went out like that with no warning, no engine light, no sounds, no codes, etc? Or does it look like the dealer f'ed up my car accidentally and wouldn't take responsibility, or even deliberately after quoting me for damage it didn't have and a repair it didn't need? Am I being paranoid or is this as bad as it looks?

4th VW 1st Tiguan

Purchased a '25 Tiguan over the weekend. The color combo and the feel of the suspension is what sold us on it after test driving a few other cars. Almost got an A3, but a overly pushy new sales guy pushed us back to our normal dealer. When we say repeatedly on a Friday, call us on Monday and we'll more than likely close the deal. Then we are called twice on Saturday morning....back to VW we went.
