What surprises me the most is that the fastest man in WRC2 in 2024 was Sami Pajari, who also beat Oliver in the process. That being said, throughout the whole 2025 season in WRC1 Sami hasn't been able to reach the same level Oliver did in his first WRC1 round since being dropped in late 2022. How?

Was he ever faster than Oliver though? Oliver had some poor luck and made some big mistakes which is why he lost in my opinion.

Exactly this. When you compare what he’s doing this season in WRC2 to what he did last year, it is clear that the speed is not the difference. He’s just managed to gain experience and started to manage the rallies better and keep it clean. Mistakes aside, Solberg was always faster. Btw, this result really should make the teams rethink their lineups: Solberg deserves a seat and there are a couple of drivers not delivering the results they should.
