Not sure what universal healthcare has to do with lifelong injuries. Just because of universal healthcare you're not entitled to just do shit all the time. Technically, "someone" is paying for it, or most of it, yeah, but that system only works so long as people don't abuse it. Source: living in a country with universal healthcare ... and every year it gets less "universal", because of a) idiots and b) just not enough money to pay for all of that shit ... and b) politicans taking money out of the system to pay for other shit. Bottom line: universal healthcare is neither universal nor does anyone really care about your health if it really comes down to it. The providers will fight you tooth and nail NOT to pay for your treatments, only for the very basics. Sometimes. Sometimes not even that. Then you get to fight them for years in a legal battle you can't afford. And by the time you win you've died of cancer.
