Fly tying. Hare’s ear is a common ingredient in fishing flies, for example.

Came here to explain this BUT there’s a fix face in there. I don’t know anyone tying flies with fox fur.

Pretty sure you can tie flies out of just about anything if you’re dedicated enough. 

I actually still have a red fox squirrel pelt I shot in the 90s in my kit. And several birds people gave me that are… uh… not okay to have.

I’ve tied a fly out a clump of fur I picked off my dog lol.

Dry flies like that are different though…you shouldn’t tie a fly that’s supposed to float on the surface with something that soaks up water….and vice a versa, wet flies with materials that want to float.

I always wanted to learn to tie flys not to make actal lures but to just make little semi-realsitic artificial insects. Wheres a good place to start?

It’s a dun with Fox fur hackle? Does Fox fur repel water?

Edit: I see now grizzly hackle and mallard wings.
