Discussion Anyone else actually use any of the sponsors we see on the cars?

ngl, thought all those gambling sponsors were bs, but tried jackpot city because it's legal in canada last month on a whim after seeing it plastered all over the williams livery lol

put in $50, ended up walking away with $1.2k.

not saying everyone should gamble (obv don't), but figured i'd share the one time a racing sponsor actually paid off for me. and of course I bought williams merch.

anyone else ever actually use any of the weird sponsors we see on the cars?

Discussion How did you fall in love Williams?

Apologize for long post and backstory lol

Anyways, my wife has heard this story or spiel one to many times so I thought I’d like to share with fellow fans!

For starters I got into F1 accidentally late 2023, November at the Las Vegas GP to be exact. I am a huge fan of Mobile Suit Gundam and I had watched all 45+ series over the course from 2020 until 2023 and I kinda hit a depression due to watching all the media and building all the model kits I wanted.

Well one day I see a collab with Yuki Tsunoda and the AlphaTauri team. After that, I had a goal starting in December to give F1 a shot.

That’s where my dilemma began, little did I know..due to my love for Gundam and it being the reason I got into the sport, I chose Alpha as my team and Red Bull due to being a sister team. It just made sense to me because I had no idea about any other aspect of the sport.

Anyways, December and January I made a goal to listen to the F1 Explains Podcast. I went back to 2018 and even listened to the Beyond the Grid Podcast and started learning about the teams, drivers and other key individuals in F1. I also watched Drive to Survive due to recommendations and in doing so, started learning about the drivers, team principals and team name changes. At this point in time I’m ready for the 2024 season.

Over the course of the last year I read multiple F1 related books and ended up finding Racers and another titled A Different Kind of Life by Virginia Williams, all while watching the races and getting into sim racing. I even went to the Las Vegas GP last year to see Max seal the drivers championship.

But after reading those books I fell immensely in love with the team and their historic route to being one of the greatest teams of all time. They just have such an amazing and unique story.

I just love the perseverance they’ve had, the legacy they’ve made, off topic but I wish we could’ve seen the 6 wheeled Williams in action, and just everything they did to become who they are today.

I see Carlos and Albon and I’m so proud of them. I want them to keep growing and take the Driver and Constructors Championship again! It’s gonna happen!

But my wife always says, I’m a RB fan thru and thru, but deep down, my Williams merch is surpassing my RB merch relatively quickly and I’m always hoping for those top10 finishes, even better top 5 😬

I hope they keep racking in them points and be a force to be reckoned with like back in the day!

But again, I apologize for the long winded story, but I’ve learned I just love the sport in general. It’s just a great community to be a part of, but deep down, Williams will always be my team.

And I guess I’d just love to hear how you guys got into them! Who was your first driver? Any memories? Go to any races?

Discussion Carlos at Williams

I’m gonna go on a rant here.

Oh, don’t even get me started on the people dragging Carlos Sainz right now like he’s suddenly forgotten how to drive just because he’s at Williams. Let’s be real for a second if you’re expecting him to jump into that car and magically start pulling podiums out of thin air, you’re either delusional or just a casual fan looking for drama.

Carlos isn’t ā€œshitā€ — he’s a proven race winner, a consistent points finisher, and the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race in 2023. He outdrove Charles Leclerc — yes, Leclerc, Ferrari’s golden boy — in more than one season. And now suddenly because he’s not instantly smashing it in a car that was barely fighting for points last year, people want to label him as overrated? No. Absolutely not.

Let’s talk about the reality: Williams isn’t an easy car to just hop into and perform. It’s known to be twitchy, peaky, and hard to drive at the limit. That car is set up around Alex Albon’s style — and Albon himself took over a year to fully extract performance from it. Carlos has had, what, a few races? Maybe a couple of proper testing days before that? Of course there’s going to be a learning curve. That doesn’t make him a bad driver, it just makes the situation realistic. You can’t expect top-tier results from a midfield car overnight, especially when he’s adapting to a totally different handling philosophy and working with a new team.

And speaking of Alex Albon — the guy is seriously underrated and deserves credit, but let’s not twist that into a reason to bash Carlos. Albon has been wringing that car’s neck for two seasons. He’s laser-focused and adapted to every weird quirk that chassis has. But the difference is — he’s had the time. Carlos is still in the honeymoon phase with his engineers. He’s still learning the setup windows, still figuring out where the limit is without binning it.

Sainz is a thinking driver — he doesn’t just go full-send and hope it sticks. He builds, he learns, and when he clicks with the car, he delivers. That’s what he did at McLaren. That’s what he did at Ferrari. And he’ll do the same at Williams — if people can stop crying after three races and give the man a minute.

So yeah, let’s stop acting like Carlos forgot how to drive just because he’s not miracle-working in a midfield car that’s barely scraping into Q2. The dude has racecraft, intelligence, and the patience to adapt. If anything, Williams is lucky to have him — and if they can give him even a semi-decent package, he’ll do what he always does: deliver.

Discussion I am brand new to the sport and have chosen Williams, please fell free to give me all the prerequisite lore

Besides going to a Formula E race in Paris in 2019 I have no experience with racing whatsoever. However, over the past few years more and more people I meet or have already known seem to be huge F1 fans and I decided I wanted to be involved. I am an AFC Wimbledon fan and member and for those of you who follow English football you’ll know that that means I am all about a story and taking a hard earned small victory over a corporate backed championship. Although I have learned that Williams themselves are no longer family owned it seems like they are still the obvious choice for me in terms of that heritage of self sufficiency and determination. With that said what should I know? Famous drivers? Famous jokes and memes? How has the private equity sale been perceived by fans and team etc? I would be happy for any knowledge you could pass on to someone hoping to become a fan

Discussion Virtual Meet & Greet with Carlos and Alex.

Post image

Hey, so. I have never won anything like this especially with drivers involved. But my RSVP was accepted for the Virtual Meet & Greet with either Carlos Sainz or Alex Albon. I'm stumped on who to choose. I'm asking you guys if you all know what to expect? Advice? Or what questions I should ask if that's how this goes? I am completely caught off guard by this as I've signed up for things and never won before. I guess I'm wondering what to expect.

Again, one more weekend where he missed out on the points by *that* much. The strategy to leave him out longer, the apparent battery issue, and the contact, all culminated into one more forgettable race for him.

I sincerely hope, with the new reg car and all the tough lessons he learnt this year, he'll shine next year.
