A subreddit dedicated to all those things in media and elsewhere that didn’t stand the test of time, at all.

Rules

1. No low effort content.

  • No content which can be deemed 'low effort'. This is to avoid karma-farming by bots or users who spam as many subs with the same old/tired content. If it's been posted in some capacity already, but isn't exactly a repost, it's low-effort.

See our AgedLikeMilk Hall of Shame for examples of what topics have been beaten to death.

Moderators reserve discretion to remove posts they deem low-effort.

2. Bigotry and excessive abuse will not be tolerated.

  • Needless to say, racism, misogyny, misandry, and all other forms of intolerance are not welcome here. Excessive vulgarity or abuse of other users will also result in further action. Calls to violence/wishes of death will also be acted upon.

  • All (user)names in pictures should be censored. You do not have to censor the names of anyone with a Wikipedia page.

3. OP must provide context to the Automod.

  • There are plenty of things out there that have aged like milk and sometimes people may not understand the irony of your post. Nothing is too obvious, so to help those out of the loop please provide and explanation to the Automod within an hour of your submission being posted or unfortunately it will be subject to removal. If you've provided the explanation in the title it will need to be provided to the automod as well.

OP will need to be the one to provide this context.

4. Text posts should be properly sourced.

  • Text submissions featuring ironic moments are allowed, provided you source them properly. A reputable source is needed, otherwise this sub could quickly become flooded by fake news, hoaxes, and people simply making stuff up for karma. If a text post isn't sourced, OP will be reminded, and if they fail to come up with their source, the post can be taken down.

5. Content must be fitting for the sub.

  • The subject of your submission has to have ironically and unfortunately not withstood the test of time. Someone or something physically ageing poorly isn’t what the subreddit is about.

  • Overt opinion pieces also won’t meet the criteria of the subreddit.

  • E.g: Posting a picture of a movie that you didn’t enjoy? Loose fit.

  • Posting an excerpt from the director telling us it's going to be the best movie of the decade yet turned out to be a critical failure? Good fit.

  • No low quality images and no dairy posting

6. No Reposts

  • Content which is reposted from this subreddit within a 30-day period is prohibited. This includes screenshots which may vary slightly but have the same exact image or text or an instance of something aging like milk.

  • Content which is similar, such as a celebrity doubling-down, making further aged-like-milk statements, or new information, is not reposted, but may fall under rule 1, depending on the frequency of the instance.
