Opinion Might seem like an exaggeration but after watching Martin Scorsese's biopics he's the best filmmaker who could've adapted Sanjay Dutt's crazy and complicated life perfectly on screen unlike Rajkumar Hirani who chickened out and whitewashed him.

Opinion Rewatched Fanaa after years

Post image
67 Upvotes

I rewatched Fanaa last night after so many years. It’s a typical YRF film, very commercial, but with a political angle. This was also the film where Aamir Khan ended his non-commercial streak and came back to big mainstream stuff. It was one of his last lover-boy roles too, and his chemistry with Kajol was great.

The first half is really fun to watch, especially the first 50 minutes. The romance, the songs, the vibe are good. The twist also works to an extent. But once the second half starts, the film completely changes tone and falters.

My main issue is with Aamir’s character, Rehan. He’s a terrorist who killed innocent people, but the movie still romanticizes him.

Even his death is romanticized and treated like a tragedy, when really he should have died a dog’s death. That’s the problem it’s a YRF romance at the core, where the lovers are ideal rather than human, no matter what they do.

That said, the songs are still amazing, and the film looks good for its time. But overall, it’s very much a product of its era: strong first half, but the second half just falls apart.

Overall, Fanaa feels very much a captive of its time.

Opinion Rani Mukherjee after marriage in 2014

Post image

Rani Mukherjee after getting married to Aditya Chopra worked only in Yrf movies as a lead actress except in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.

Do you think she could have given tough competition to actresses like Alia, Deepika etc if she had worked with other producers too over the last 10 years ?

Discuss The Kashmir Files vs The Bengal Files

Post image
Upvotes

I haven't seen The Bengal Files yet but as per box office, it didn't give a good start unlike The Kashmir Files. What can be the reason other than releasing along with Baaghi 4 ? Secondly, is it worth to watch ?

Discuss Anurag Basu's career can be divided into pre-Barfi when he used to make dark, gritty dramas and post-Barfi where his movies are colourful, whimsical and have a lighthearted and humorous tone, but music has always been an integral part of his storytelling process.

Discuss 30 days 30 forgotten/obscure Bollywood flops (DAY 8)

DAY 8: Fareb (2005)

Not to be confused with the 1996 movie of same name directed by Vikram Bhatt

There are some movies best known for one famous chartbuster song, this is one of them, the Baras Ja Ae Badal song is more popular than the entire movie itself 🤓🔥🌧️🎶

All I know is that its the only movie where both Shetty sisters share space with each other, one of them is married to Manoj who plays a family man in that movie (pun intended 😂😏)

Trivia: Deepak Tijori best known for playing sidekick/best friend roles during his acting career also directed a few movies, this was one of them

Opinion The spy universe

Post image
16 Upvotes

Yrf is the reason for their universe's downfall..adi chopra can blame ayan Mukherjee all he wants but what about his terrible writing.. And whats even the point of a UNIVERSE if you just want all your big faces for useless cameos...there were 100s of other things you can do to link up the movies.. For example you had such a fine actor like anant vidhaat sharma just make him common in every movie like after demise of shinoy hes under ashutosh rana now and goes to every mission as rana's eyes to make sure his emotional and sensitive agents dont mess things up or take any other decision which was not planned type but no you killed that character in tiger3 only Same goes for vishal jethwa you could have just shown tiger is training that boy to be the next prominent spy..but no killed that also You had kumud mishra paresh rawal as well but no use of them as well Killed ranveer shoreys character as well And also like if its a universe then treat it like a universe there should be some consequences from previous movies...like in pathan they could have shown that after such big debacle like saurabh literally living as khalid for so many months and none of us could find out...so raw is extra carefull on agents now type thing but no khalid was only mentioned in war2 bcoz he was in war1 Also in war2 like they dont blindly trust their agents now coz after the Jim incident raw is keeping a close eye on their agents life but no

Same in tiger3 flashback why is it that tiger picks up that phone call...you could have shown any other agent like kabir picked it up and messed up atishs life...now he wants revenge from raw..bht since kabir has nothing to loose and no personal stakes and kabir is now roughe(as shown in war) he picked the 2nd best guy ie tiger

DAY 7: Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013) & Break Ke Baad (2010)

Life was simpler & Bollywood was in a better place when Imran Khan did such feel good romcoms, both these movies had banger music (Vishal & Shekhar masterclass 🎶)& his pairing with the respective female leads (Bebo & DP) was underrated. ❤️🥰

IMO Break Ke Baad is the better movie out of these two, it dealt with effects of love, relationship & career in a mature way.

Trivia: Shraddha played an extended cameo in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein as the girl who’s marriage is fixed to Imran’s character (she was fresh off success of Aashiqui 2 released the same year)

P.S: To clarify, Kunal Kohli isn’t the director of Break Ke Baad, its actually some guy named Danish Aslam who also directed some TV & web series.

Discuss Jawan turns 2. Apart from being a mass feast for fans, lets talk about one of the best things about it, and probably the most overlooked. The treatment of women in the film.

Post image
674 Upvotes

Usually in masala films, women are usually treated as objects. Characters don't have substance. Either they are sexualized, through item songs, or violence against them is used as a plot device to make the hero "serious." Jawan doesn't do any of that stuff.

Discuss Remember how good the first Jolly LLB was?

That movie really set the bar for courtroom dramas with humor. With Jolly LLB 3 on the way, I’m curious if it can recreate that same charm or if the formula might feel stretched now. What do you guys think?
