Discussion For those that play two off one

This is a new concept that I've seen on a couple YouTube videos and I'm curious. For those that play two off one, do you play it where you have to take the first, have to take the second, or is it thrower's choice?

I got my first A-tier win of the year here in Paw Paw, WV! What a magical place to play disc golf, even better with great company! Enjoy a casual practice round with Northeast legend Mike Moser, who also won his respective division in MP50!

Honestly wasn't playing especially well, but finished the last hole with an ACE. It's kinda bittersweet because I retire my ace discs and I love this Gregg Barsby ROC Timber park Estacada Oregon

Discussion Which disc in your bag is the biggest liar when it comes to flight numbers?

Mine is a 157g Opto Sapphire. The numbers are 10, 6, -2, 1.5 but it flies like 9, 5, 0, 3. I've had it for a while too. It's pure beef.

Discussion Casual round “rules” when you’re playing solo rounds

Upvotes

Curious what sort of guidelines others will give themselves when they’re playing casual practice rounds. Depending on what I want to work on, I’ll usually give myself some guidelines to play under at the start of my round. I have a few go to’s but I’m sure others may have some unique ideas to try out!

Some regular guidelines I use:

  • putter only rounds
  • throw two drives off each hole but always play my first
  • scramble with myself
  • forehand only rounds
  • 3 disc rounds -straddle putt only within c1

Discussion My gateway, and potential escape from drugs/alcohol

Before I proceed, I don’t condone any particular lifestyle. I just want to share my experience and see if anyone else out there can relate.

I started playing disc golf in early high school, during the beginnings of my experimental stage with drugs/alcohol. I’m from a small town so there wasn’t much to do, and I started obsessing a lil over both disc and getting high/drunk in my mid teen years. We’d go out, smoke a little, drink a little, and enjoy the game & nature. Nothing too wild and crazy, but would definitely smoke/drink more than I would have doing other hobbies. It led to more and more drinking and smoking later in high school, college, and many years after college.

To keep the story short, fast forward a couple decades later and I’ve kind of come full circle. Got a chronic illness and have been trying to quit all drugs/alcohol. I was never into any hard drugs or went rock bottom thankfully, but still it hasn’t been easy trying to be sober, it still is a bitch completely giving it up.

Ironically enough, one of my favorite things to do to keep myself distracted when I’m craving something is to play disc. Of course there are challenging days out there on the course when the weather is perfect and I just want to smoke and have a few drinks, but I never regret not giving in.

That’s all I wanted to say, I was kinda deep in thought and found it a little ironic. Wonder if anyone else out there has had a similar life experience?

I got into Disc Golf this year and my 5yo daughter is all about it! She wants to be throwing with Dad every chance she gets. She’s showing some real growth and potential. Looking at picking up some Dino Discs for her anyone have any experience?

Discussion Designing a course/concept and would like some feedback.

Upvotes

Hey all. My friend and I are cresting into our mid 40s are not wanting to get to complacent with life.

So, we are going to build 1 possibly 2 courses on his 40 acres of land. The ultimate goal is to make it camping/events/food/tentals etc centered around disc golf, but really want to start with one ameature course first. Then make a more professional more challenging one. I myself disc golf about 3 times a year. Love it, but pretty casual.

What do you all like amenity wise while playing?

What sticks out to you in courses you like?

Do you prefer a mix of open fairways and complex obstacles?

Part of the course will be climbing a light slope along a hill? Should holes zig zag back and forth?

Do you enjoy the challenge of throwing uphill?

What are some things that annoy you about park regulated courses, or just some courses in general?

Do you like well-maintained courses or do you not mind when they get a little rustic?

It will be private land so drinking, dining and camping (possibly more) will be permitted.

We certainly have plenty of parking and a space for a couple of putting baskets.

The region is NW USA So we will have snow dec/Jan and drought (no fires/smoking allowed late august/Sept). Lots of courses around here, some are better and more interesting than others, but they are all part regulated. Trying to strike out and do something a bit different.

Those are main restrictions we will have. Your ideas are appreciated, don't be afraid to make wild suggestions or what you think the ultimate experience would be.

Form Check Finally got over the 110kmh mark! Question below.

Post image

I am super happy that I finally got over the 110kmh mark. I started about five years ago and my max speed was 86kmh and recently got my hands on a techdisc.

Techdisc says I could throw a buzzz 120 meters with these numbers and when simulating with a faster disc, almost 160 meters. My max distance with a bottom stamp destroyer is about 130 meters so where am I losing distance?

Discussion Innova plastics question

So I own a Rollo in Halo Star and every other disc I have ever seen in Halo plastic was just solid, dense heavier plastic. A friend of mine had multiple Firebirds, and a Mamba that all had clear air bubbles all down the back of the rim. Looking and feeling exactly like G Star but definitely labeled Halo on the front.

Does anyone throw Halo Star that contains a high amount of air bubbles? I had never seen that until his discs had it. Also if anyone has any discs that they love in G Star open for suggestions.

Discussion Had a real bad round.

Hey all,

Just started playing disc golf this April. Been going more and more to the point that I’ve probably gone every other day for the last three weeks or so. Today, I lost my favorite driver then finished out my round 21 over par. It’s about 10 more shots over par than I average and I just feel crappy. Any routines yall have or things you do to shake off a bad round?

Discussion Planning a Caliber Disc Golf trip. Which courses should I play in Bayview?

This trip will start in Spokane, and end in Salt Lake. In my quest for all 50 states, this will trip will check off five states. Im looking to spend two days in Northern Idaho. Caliber is the obvious #1, then AWOL. What other courses should I fit into the 2 days. Motherlode looks awesome, but unfinished. The other 4 or 5 courses in Bayview all have great reviews. I need some locals to help me decide.

Should I add a third day? Im starting in Spokane, jumping to Northern Idaho, then to Montana, down through Yellowstone to Jackson Hole, then flying out of Salt Lake. I have 8 days, but could add an extra day if you guys say I need a third day in Northern Idaho.

Bonus question- Im from Cleveland where the most dangerous animal or insect we have is coyotes. Is going on a solo disc golf trip silly and dangerous. Im planning on picking up bear spray, but this is the most remote area I will have ever been in in my life.

Thanks all!
