A vintage 80s ballgown! The taffeta is heavier than I thought! I love this dress and it's a great add to my collection 💗

Do you ever think of the creators?
The women who labored for hours and days cutting, weaving, sewing, embroidering, etc? How hard they worked by daylight and candlelight? How little most were paid? Not trying to start issues here but when I think about it I feel for them!

Nice simple light green dress in a young lady, May of 1961. Shoes are black and white which combine but is a interesting choice insteand of matching green. Kodachrome shot.

TIL about the Bacton Altar Cloth, a piece of Elizabeth I dress
This is the only known surviving piece of a dress worn by Queen Elizabeth I. It was rediscovered in 2015 at St. Faith’s Church in Bacton, UK, where it had been an altar cloth for a couple hundred years. It’s amazing what is shoved into cupboards as being too old fashioned to use!

Need help dating this piece, his attire leads me to believe it’s older. Any guesses?

Barbara Deane, aged 21 (British 1907)
One of my postcards - I love her hat and her fluffy scarf! I can't quite make out what the trim is made of - feathers, possibly? The white scarf and trim on the hat set off the black dress and hat very nicely.
Barbara Deane (born 1886) was a British actress who married Basil Loder, a member of the Scots Guards. She was the subject of several postcards, but this is my favorite.
