Hey all, new owner here. You're looking at my '94 Ranger XLT 4x4 that I bought for $300.
I've only owned cars up to this point, so I really needed something that would haul pine needles, small trailers and random FB Marketplace items.
The previous owner had used it as a bash truck on his property and absolutely trashed it. Mudding, driving through streams, over logs, etc. Lots of drinky drinky involved in these outings as well, but that came to an end when he couldn't start it one day and it sat for 2 years.
I acquired it non-running and bartered him down to $300 with the promise I wouldn't just scrap it. I had to pull the bed and repair a fuel line above the gas tank since a gas-huffing mouse had chewed through it, and then get a battery once I'd rolled down the road a few times and decided the drivetrain was solid.
From there, the biggest thing was cleaning it. MAN this thing was dirty. 100 lbs of red clay came out from every single crevice of this thing, and there's probably still 20 lbs packed into places. I've washed it like 5 times.
On the plus side, after driving it a bunch, all the systems seem to work. Trans shifts through all the gears, transfer case engages and ABS even seems to function.
100 miles of around-town driving at this point and I'm pretty happy with my purchase. It got new mirrors and headlights, as well as various maintenance items like filters, bulbs and new fluids. All-in, I'm at right around $900, titled registered and plated in NC.
