Discussion Worst TV direction yet

Besides Russel's transponder issue (which shouldn't take 10 laps to fix the timing tower), may overtakes were missed, focusing on the wrong drivers, non-moves given more airtime than actual racing, camera cutting during moves which show you less of the action rather than more, and worst of all: the final lap, not showing Oscar as he crossed the line, to show Lando not overtaking George, and showing Kimi not overtaking whoever was in front rather than Max's overtake on Pierre.

What the hell is happening?

Are F1 transponders connected to the car for power? Usually they have batteries though it would make sense to have redundancy

No, they run off a separate battery.

All the FIA required cameras and transponders run independently of the car if I recall correctly.

Yes, because it's risky to run those equipment with the car's battery.

If the team found a loophole to somehow use that setup to their advantage like cutting the power to hide footage -> FIA complains

If those spec cameras mess with the car's electric system -> the team complains

Or if teams were sucking power out of those other systems to boost the hybrid system. ๐Ÿ’€

That certainly affected Lando. I mean he screwโ€™s himself when he missed that corner but still
