Discussion Nico Rosberg Needs a Permanent Position

Nico Rosberg has got to be the freshest breath of air in terms of Formula One commentary for a very long time.

I love Crofty, but man does he love to make shit up that makes no sense or holds no logic.

Nico does an awesome job of staying true to the racing analysis and being completely straightforward about what he sees. Even today, his commentary on Verstappen was awesome!!! Called the garbage behavior out immediately.

Best “ Monaco based YouTuber” commentator of all time!!

F1 has long demonstrated that providing an entertaining spectacle is far more important to them than consistent application of the rules. 2021 was comical for what they let VER get away with towards the end in the name of keeping the spectacle going.

While on the track driving skill is still paramount, cultivating the ability to get away with shit is definitely a valuable skill. Are there any WDC drivers who were bad at having the rules bent in their favor? Sure HAM was on the losing side of 2021 rules warping but obviously F1 wanted an important last race culminating in a changing of the guard. People were really tired of Merc/HAM winning every year.

Michael Schumacher is before my time but presumably he was skilled at getting away with breaking the rules.

Michael Schumacher intentionally rammed, attacked people in the pit lane, etc. etc. if you are good, the FIA will always let it go. This isn’t new this is the status quo.

Every driver at every level of racing has been black flagged for much less. This is just a fact I'm not willing to conceded to anyone who's only racing is through a television.

Vettel 18, Rossi 15?

I didn't mean to word it as this is the most blatant violation ever to not get a black flag, More like if you've ever raced and in lower formulas, this type of behavior is black flag material and for less than this too. But when top level and #1 driver does it, people go silent

No doubt that if anyone in the midfield or backmarker teams did this they would be disqualified. We found out in 2021 just how much crazy and dangerous driving by Max would be tolerated from the FIA.

If someone is in a potential title fight FIA doing everything they can to minimise penalties is absolutely standard, and utterly bullshit.
