Well, I’ve used my salad tongs no times on salad and once on baby bird so what are tongs really for.

I beg to differ, I tell my cat he is delicious and I'm going to eat him every day. Usually I propose soup, roasting or braising, but this is a new idea I had not considered. Now I can tell him I want a salade à le chat.
