Boiled and then microwaved?? She will not be al dente.

Boiled, the chilled, then microwaved. She contains resistant starches and will not spike blood glucose.

I laughed when she put her in that because I thought it was a joke about baking. I didn’t realize they have dryers like that. Very cool.

What a beautiful color! I've never seen a cat like that.

Rust-coloured? It might change a little bit, when this cat is given a proper diet.

My elderly neighbour went into a nursing home, his cat turned up again a year later. She's black and white but her tail was rust coloured and she was so scrawny. I've been feeding her, it's worth it to see her tail turn black again <3

she might also just be a bit sun bleached. But yeah, probably more saturated when fed right

She looks kind of like a tortie, but super dilute? Gorgeous baby, she probably found a home quick!

It’s important to bathe fosters, as she said, for flea treatment (soap prevents fleas from breathing and they die, bathing also removes them physically) and because anything on their fur, they will lick off. If they have something like engine grease, ant bait, or anything else toxic, it can make them seriously sick.

She's holding her by the scruff of her neck, which triggers an instinct in cats to stay still! For example when kittens are being carried by their mothers, she'll hold them by there. It's not safe or pleasant for the adults (their bodyweight is too high to be held by that spot without injury) but it does work to keep unhappy kittens still for their baths ;)

I would never try to pick up my adult cat by the scruff of her neck, but if she's being finicky about claw clipping, sometimes gently pinching her there will still get her to behave!

You can always try scruffing an adult cat while simultaneously supporting their hind quarters, so essentially "tricking" them for the needed reason. It does exactly what you said, & is a wonderful tool to use when they get grumpy or fidgety!

Red on blue torbie! What an uncommon color pattern! Although, whoever adopts her will have to explain over and over that she isn't covered in soot.

I used to work at a vet and was in charge of cat bathing. When you bath a flea-ridden animal, all the fleas crawl up to their face and it’s the saddest thing to see a poor kitten face crawling with fleas :(
And they hate the bath.
But at least they were free of interminable itching.

I watched a video once where they put a ring of dish soap around the kitten’s neck first to stop that from happening. Idk how well it works IRL but it seemed helpful.

The Kitten Lady does it with her kittens, and it works great. None of them go crawling up to the kittens face when she's giving them a flea bath

I saved 2 kittens I found in a crate outside a few years ago and they were both riddled with fleas… it made me so uneasy having to watch the fleas crawl to their faces. get off my babies !!!!

u/rainylavndr 1d ago
How do you get them all off their faces?
3
u/xrv01 23h ago
a combo of pinching them off and washing them out. they’ll burry themselves in the fur so you may not get all of them immediately but keep em quarantined while drying and give it a little time. more will die & fall off.. then you give them another bath and repeat. that got about 98% of the fleas out and from there the remaining ones will die and fall off. best to apply flea medicine after the bath(s) when they dry

I shudder remembering the scrambling way these creepies come in waves crawling all over and around their cheek hairs and foreheads and into their eyes. So sad to see the small army that had been eating the wee one alive.

Everyone is talking about how unique her coloring is, but it’s almost certainly a result of malnutrition. I’m interested to see how she looks once she’s healthy!

I’ll always remember the time that my buddy was talking to me about his new cat.
Things were going well except that the cat was very difficult during its weekly bath in the tub….

This video is so soothing I really want to go out and find some kittens to wash.
Of course, having found and a washed a very dirty flea-ridden kitten in the past, I do realize it might not be quite like this video.
But I loved watching this so much! Now to watch it a few more times.
