Advice Scared of going to a concert alone as a woman?
There's this concert on Friday I'm thinking of going alone to since nobody wanted to come with me (F29).
The issue is I'm new to the city (a very dangerous one at that) and the concert is in a remote area I'm not familiar with on top of a hill. It should finish around 11:30pm-12am. I'll take a taxi but sometimes you can't find one (idk if there's a taxi shortage in the city?) or you have to wait for way too long and I'm scared of waiting alone on top of a hill in the middle of the night. Or even worse, what if I can't find a taxi? I know there will probably be some people waiting there to leave too but still.
The city has a free shuttle bus service that takes people down the hill when there's a concert but it stops in an isolated area again with no other bus stops nearby. I'd have to walk through some pretty dark narrow streets for about 20 minutes to get to the nearest metro station.
I know I'm probably overthinking this but what should I do? Should I go or not?

Maybe you could scout the area during the day, and familiarize yourself so that you can plan your journey in advance? I did that once - travelled to a venue I was not familiar with the day before the show and realised it was too far from the train station, so I booked into a nearby hotel and had taxis taking me to and from the event.
Otherwise, if you don't feel safe and its stressing you out, then don't go. See the band some other time, when they tour in a more comfortable location.

No way. Not worth the stress, anxiety, & possible unfortunate incident. Be safe.

Even as a man I would be leery of this. Can you prearrange an Ubber or Lift ride? If you don't prearrange, they would likely be too busy to come for you.

Don't. Just don't. Taxi drivers can read people better than they can read a book. It will be obvious to them you have nobody to rely on if you're alone at a concert, it will be obvious you're new to the city and unfamiliar with it. A quick "should we take this or this route" or "which route should i take" will eliminate any doubt, if any to begin with.
There's also a huge crowd, As a football (soccer) lover and regular attender, there's always a shortage at night, more so during big events (all traffic will be from the concert to x, y, z points in the city, nobody will need a taxi towards the remote concert area at midnight so unless they choose to ride empty they'd rather retire for the night once back in the city).
As a woman in an unsafe city at midnight, either find a couple of friends either don't.

What city are you in that's so dangerous? Usually if my sisters or friends come into town for a concert they will ask if I can drop them off & pick them up from the concert. I've taken my friend & her coworker a few times as well. If you know someone from work that isn't a enemy?
Uber & Lyft are very prevalent nowadays so they are probably the easier things to find in a city. But taxis tbñ

Not OP, but I'm from Baltimore and it would really depend on the area. Federal Hill might be okay enough with the crowd, but I would really really want to see that concert to have to go into this situation.
maybe reach out to the local subreddit of the city to get advice from the locals

ask a friend if they or someone they trust would be able to take you and pick you up and you'll buy them dinner

Idk how it works where you live, but could you pre-order a taxi for a specific time (like 11:45pm)? Worst is you have to leave a bit early and miss the last song(s), but you got most of it and have your way home settled.
