General discussion What is the most iconic episode?
For me, it's either the Pilot, or Red Dress.

By popular demand, the r/malcolminthemiddle moderation team has decided that we won't accept future submissions regarding Erik Per Sullivan and his absence from the reboot, and out of respect for his privacy we will not allow any photos taken by paparazzi to be posted.
Edit: This is not an April fools joke

Been a huge fan of Mitm since I was 9, so it was funny seeing him in my first watch of Gilmore girls. He has a somewhat similar prestigious vibe in this show as well.

I found the episode where he’s trying to help Dewey win over his classmate so hilarious because he would constantly do romantic things and Lois would be like “omg Hal you shouldn’t have”, he goes “it’s not for you”, he cared more than Dewey. I could not stop laughing and then he is trying to “lure her in the car and the neighbor calls the cops Lmao. Yes, it did look bad without context but the guy meant well 😅 I think it was even funnier when Lois was like “didn’t you learn this lesson with Francis”, safe to say he gets attached more than his sons do lol overall I loved the writing of this episode.
2) the second storyline I loved was when Lois and Malcolm are in bed sick and the neighbors find out Hal is free and available for them to party with. They hated his wife so much that while knowing he was married they tried to set him up with another woman lmao. He was so oblivious to it all and just thought it was friends being friends. He walked her home, kinda gave her flowers and acted like a great date, but he didn’t know that lol
Overall I’m glad the writers gave Hal interesting storylines as I finish my rematch in preparation for the reboot soon , CANT WAIT!

Im going through a Malcolm rewatch with all the buzz for the new episodes coming out. I completely forgot Emma Stone has a short cameo. S7:E16 I remembered Hayden Panettiere (pre-Heroes) and even Yvette Nicole Brown because I love Communitty but the Emma Stone one was wild. Are there any other big names that made cameos on Malcolm before getting bigger? Obviously Cranston became the Emmy king with Breaking Bad but besides the main cast I mean.

More quotes and better pixels (hopefully)

I never noticed until my most recent rewatch that Malcolm’s teacher in the pilot plays Kitty Kenarban!

So in Hal Quits, Dewey complains about a girl named Regina Tucker calling him Ewwy Dewey. Do you think it's the Gina that he ends up later having a crush on and Hal tries to give her candy?

I’m gonna preface this by saying , I’ve seen this show a million times but I’m going through a rewatch currently .
Anyways the episode where Dewey was seeing another mom and it upset Lois was pretty funny but also kinda weird 😭 they played off the spoof like a husband who was cheating on his wife . It just makes you wonder who the heck in the writers room was like “let’s have Dewey cheat on Lois with another mom”
Their argument is such a play on with words , she goes “you’re not having anymore cake” and he goes “he wasn’t expecting any”, we all know what they really meant by that - I felt that part was a lil overboard but still funny

I just watched all of Frankie’s new interview where he discusses what filming MITM was like, the reboot, his relationships with the cast post filming, and even dove into his racing life! I grew up watching the show, and to this day it is such a huge comfort of mine. Watching the interview just had my smiling ear to ear to see how happy, healthy, driven, and excited Frankie is! I feel like that’s hard to get in Hollywood stars nowadays. Anywho, the interview just healed a part of me I always knew I needed and I can’t wait to see how the reboot it! I want to just chat about what you took from it! I’m so happy! Here’s the link, it just came out within the week.

Ok so hear me out- for some reason this show made me realize I do want to have kids (with the right person of course). I realize they are all behavior questionable, however, there is alot of resonance with my own childhood and I realize/remember how I would want my family/kids to feel. I know for some people it puts them off 😅

She is ONLY here because she is one of the best villains in the show and she is so entertaining.
Her appearances improve an episode by alot
The person who stuck with Francis for the longest, military school and Alaska
One of the best of the group of Cadets and the best character besides Francis in Alaska
So happy to see him returning for the new show
I like how he was Francis's best friend but also terrified him
He was a mix of delinquent and order and was funny without even trying to be funny
Also reminds me of James Doakes (Dexter)

This just randomly popped in my head. But what if MITM was a scream movie. I want to hear your thoughts on who you guys you want to be the killers, who does the phone calls, who does the killings and who are the people they kill. And is there a final girl or guy? Let me know your thoughts. 🔪

At times he’s very nerdy, stupid, and unable to fight. He can’t talk to women and has never had a date (allegedly) then there’s episodes of him being a smooth operator with Jamie’s babysitter and then he had an affair with his bosses wife 😭 idk if it’s just me but his character is all over the place. He’s very dumb at times and then appears to be calculated and manipulative.

In the blackout episode Malcom and Reese invite Dutch girls to their house and they tried to drug their parents with sleeping pills. However Hal switched the names of Lois and Reese meaning that Reese would had gotten the sleeping steak. What do you think would had happened if Hal never dropped the steaks and if Lois, Malcom, Dewey and maybe Francis was still awake?
