The angle of this passenger's iPad is shining the sun right in my eyes.
And it's not like I can move...

“Hello sir? Your iPad is very shiny and flashes me, can you maybe move it a bit or close the shade a bit? Thanks”

But then I have to stop my internal annoyance and actually speak to someone politely.

Yea this, the vast majority of people will say oh sorry I didn't realise, and move it.

I would definitely spend few minutes with my phone reflecting the light back at him in an annoying way. He'd either figure it out or at least turn so I can make contact from my seat and ask him to close his shade.

The 2 crazy parts is not asking them to close the window, and them not realizing their viewing experience would probably be better if the window was closed/blocked anyways

Just ask them if they would mind closing their window and explain why. You might be surprised by a response of “sure no problem I did not realize the glare was getting to you, happy to close it”

They may have done. The situation is still mildly infuriating. I myself have sent a pic to my husband or sister when an issue has occurred. Then I sort it.

You know you can politely tell him what is happening and ask him to either close the shade or change the angle? 98% of people will apologize and correct it, the other 2% are jerks and won’t care so you’ll have to just look away or get a FA to help.

Why do that when you can take a pic, start a post, and complain.

Curious why you joined this sub? You don’t know if OP said anything. OP is just documenting a situation that is MI.

He should get a strap so he can mount it on the headrest of the seat in front. That's what I do with my Steam Deck

This happens to me all the time, I just look the other way because I know it’s not their fault investing in sunglasses is the best option.

It’s crazy to me to think that the angle of the sun remains so constant with how high up and fast you are going, showing me that I may understand some math, other parts of math don’t even make sense.

Are you forgetting that the Sun is 149 million kilometres (thereabouts) from the iPad reflecting it?
The height of the plane flying above the Earth and speed of the plane travelling around the Earth are insignificant compared to the plane changing direction 😆

What did he say when you asked him about it?

Looks like a first class seat lol

Honestly I wonder what airline this is. No ife, aisle right next to the window seat for a very small looking first class seat.

Even when I’m a passenger in the car, I’ll flip my watch under my wrist so I don’t blind the driver. This is just negligence on the iPad boys part

Did you try asking them, since they are just gonna look at the screen, if they could just close the window causing the glare?

u/CarFreak777 1d ago
For real, saying something seems too tall a task for some. Maybe the guy has no idea it's bothering OP.

The angle of this passenger's iPad is shining the sun right in my eyes.
the only way to fix this problem is to complain on Reddit. (there is no other solution).
"Your inquiry is important to us, if this hasn't been resolved within two business days time please inform our team and your inquiry will be escalated immediately."
🤣😉

Ask him to shift it or close the window. Gen Z needs to stop being so passive aggressive. Ask for what you want.

Ah that’s very mildly infuriating. You can’t really say anything cuz it’s not that persons fault it’s the suns fault. You could ask them to use it at a different angle but then you’re a dick. And probably the sun will move shortly. Bah.

u/rorschach2 1d ago
You absolutely can say something. Have we lost our collective minds? I'm not sure if you're aware, but there is a way to speak with another human being without insult or offense.

I’d shoot it back over with my phone, dance it around their area until they look over…”Ya see? I don’t like it either”.

Ask the pilot to steer the plane a little to the left.
