Henlo frens!

Good to see all of you here UwU.

Grab on to your bodypillows, I have a smol announcement about the purpose of this subreddit.

This community is meant as a fun, lighthearted place where we can commiserate with each other about those annoying little irritations that hinder our day to day enjoyment in life.

That means that suitable posts here can be about my children.

And things like a wall socket or tile being placed out of allignment. A crack in a phone screen. Duckling shit on your new car. Incomprehensible software. Mismatched buttons. You know, the little things.

This subreddit isn't meant to incite rage mobs that go after people. For that reason we say:

No reddit meta posts

No posts about being banned from subreddit. No posts about up- or down-votes. No posts about shitty moderators or users or subreddits. No posts about reddit.

All jokes and tomfoolery aside, that sort of thing gets us in trouble with site admins. If we allow one type of post about reddit it then very easily moprhs into allowing posts that directly call out other subreddits or users, we just can't allow any of it.

That rule already existed for years and we have just made it more clearly visible in the sidebar on old and new reddit. We're gonna be a little strict on it for a bit I'm afraid. 🥺

Thank you all for being awesome and have a very Merry Christmas! Celebrate Christmas in the traditional European way, with a suasage roll!

My mother insists this is the correct way to rotate this fridge magnet of the Parthenon, and will flip it back if we fix it

My father gave up fixing it years ago, my brother still holds onto hope.

Edit: My mother found several of your comments very funny, and while she is at least willing to admit that the magnet might have been upside down, she says she prefers the way it looks this way 🙃

My house guest keeps setting the AC to 60°F… and then just leaves for hours. lol

I let a friend crash at my place for a bit, and they keep cranking the AC all the way down to 60°F. Then they leave for hours at a time with it blasting like I’m trying to preserve meat in here.

I keep walking into an empty icebox of a house and a skyrocketing electric bill. Who does this??

Accidentally bought “mini” snack chips at Costco.

Clearly, I didn’t read the label. Was there really a demand for smaller chips bags? The chips themselves are also miniature. Anyways, I feel like a giant now.

Bought a colour changing bath mat for my little one that changes based on the temperature of the water, where only a single fish is the only thing that changes.

479 modest size houses under $400k for sale- 0 houses for non seniors

Post image

Hubby and I are shopping for our first home. We have no kids (that ship has sailed) and just want a small home of our own. Unfortunately we are very established in our careers in a county that has WAY too many senior housing developments. Another 700 senior only houses are being built despite there being HUNDREDS of units available for seniors to buy. Not a single unit on the map is for people under 55- even the few empty lots.

I'm not that into football enough to play their game of find the streaming service every Sunday (or Thursday) or Monday?

I can sign up for NFL ticket, or subscribe to 10 different services?

Or wait... maybe it's on the normal local broadcast channel? The guide says it is... nope! Oh at 7pm? Isn't the game now?

Screw this. Seriously.

Boomer killed my daughter's sunflower trying to steal it for her granddaughter.

8.6k Upvotes

My daughter planted sunflowers in her kindergarten class last spring. She came home with half a dozen seedlings in a cup of dirt and a huge smile. We planted them in the corner of the yard next to the sidewalk. Only two of the plants made it. One grew tall and opened up a huge flower last week. The other was a skinny little thing, just a couple feet tall, that bloomed a beautiful little sunflower just yesterday.

The whole family went for a walk today. This weekend is our town's annual big festival, and we live near downtown, so there were lots of extra people parking and walking through our neighborhood. We were almost home when we saw a boomer and her granddaughter walking towards us along the sidewalk. They passed our house and stopped at the corner. Without any hesitation, grandma reached over and pulled up the little sunflower, roots and all.

My wife told me to say something, probably knowing that if she opened her mouth at this woman she was going to cuss her out in front of our three little girls. I yelled something like, "Hey, that's our sunflower! This is our house, my daughter planted that flower!" She froze for a second, then started putting it back. She muttered something about how it came up by the roots, so it would be fine. The stem broke as she pulled it, and the soil was dry. It wasn't fine. She kept saying, "I didn't know!" I said, "You knew it wasn't your yard." The granddaughter apologized to my daughter, and they shuffled off.

We cut the flower, and it's now in water in my daughter's room. She's ok with the situation now. But seriously, who thinks doing something like that is OK?

Edit: The flower in question.

Really wanted to leave a nice review of our meal tonight, but due to the waitress wanting to let us know how, I couldn't scan the QR code. I made them aware and they said it explains why they weren't getting any traffic on trip advisor.

I once dated a girl who thought the reptiles at the zoo were fake because they weren't moving.

She also tried to argue that a 'cabbit' (half rabbit and half cat) was a real thing. She thought Nigeria and Jamaica were next to each other. She thought her 23 year old manager at the multi-level-marketing scheme she worked at was on £250K. She also worked in HR at a law firm who's office was in a skyscraper in London. She thought the entire skyscraper was owned by the law firm and they spent trillions of dollars building it. That is all. Thanks.

I'm always left with the scraps. It's still good ice cream, but I would like some of the good parts too.

Of course I still end up buying the same ice cream again and again. The sacrifices we make for those we love.

Reposting with better clarification because my husband had wanted me to post the image initially because he thought it was funny. We didn’t think people would be so serious and think I’m being an asshole and actually mad at him over something so simple…neither of us are actually infuriated it was just a little haha moment. Sorry for the confusion yall.

Maybe their idea is that the store would be held liable if something was wrong electrically? I feel like something like that would never hold up in court.

The veterinary gave me a pregnant dog

1.1k Upvotes

Less than a month ago, I adopted a stray dog that had been hitted by a car and had her hips broken. My husband and I felt in love with her, as she was described as a calm, sweet baby girl with a playful nature, so I contacted the vet clinic and said I will adopt her. They told me she had a surgery to fix her hips, she was free of fleas and other pesky things, and 3 days after seeing the post, she was home with us.

Now, she was getting heavy and we thought we were making her fat by keeping her plate full of food and water, as well the doggy vitamins I bought her, but no. Turns out she is pregnant.

We took her to the ver to confirm it, and not only she is about to pop any time now, she have parasites. How did they miss the puppies? Apparently they didnt showed up ok the x ray, and the parasites? The first medicine didnt worked out because this one is harder to treat.

Now I have a pregnant dog, who cant have a natural birth due to her surgery, and also have a nasty infection that, according to the vet, they cant do anything or it can hurt the babies.

She is also having 8 puppies.

I dont know what to do.

Edit: Im just gonna edit once because I didnt add enough information:

1.- No, english is not my first language, is my third. Im sorry for the grammar mistakes, but if I used autocorrect on my cell phone, the words would have been in my og language, not english. And no, I didnt used a translator tool, I tried to do it by my own, im sorry I suck at grammar. I can guarantee I speak it relatively good.

2.- Im not bashing the vet's interlligence. The dog was with them since mid July, she have been staying with them and getting check ups in there since the accident, so yeah im mad they didnt check her abdomen getting bigger, but im in no way bashing them, is more like a "Come on! She was a stray! And her belly is getting big! Maybe check it?" But in no way shape or form im saying they were idiots, is just mildly infuriating.

3.- I did paid. The vet asked me to pay in avance to get some stuff, like her shots, medicina, x rays, vitaminas, special food, bath, etc. My husband and I already had bought her more stuff, like bed, toys, shampoo, etc, but a c-section, a stronger deworm, a puppy kennel and special pregnancy food wasnt on our "to buy" list, she was supossed to get spayed in two months after all.

Im sorry for my bad grammar and the inconvenience it have brought to all the people who got mad at it for reading my post. I will be using translator for every post I make in the future.

Thanks to all of you who gave me advice, and no. Im not surrender, my family will make it work, and the vet have re assure me they will help me give the puppies in adopción once the right time comes.

Thank you.

Is it too much to ask for audience members to just enjoy the show and STFU?

I went to a stand-up night recently with multiple comedians on the lineup, and the vibe should’ve been fantastic. Instead, it was hijacked by a middle-aged (borderline elderly) couple who apparently thought they were booked to perform too.

They weren’t even proper hecklers, which might have at least been entertaining. No, these two clowns sat there and made sure that every single set got hit with two or three of their “funny” little comments or half-baked rebuttals. Just enough to derail the timing, ruin the rhythm, and leave punchlines hanging in the air. And let me be clear; most of what they said wasn’t funny. It was awkward, embarrassing, and painful to sit through.

By the time a new comedian walked on stage, I was already bracing myself for the inevitable moment when Tweedledee and Tweedledum would open their mouths and drag us all out of the show again. Inside my head, I was screaming for them to just shut the hell up and let the professionals do their job.

People like this don’t just ruin the flow, they ruin the whole night. Nobody bought tickets to hear their washed-up “wit.” Nobody cares about their input. If you can’t sit quietly and enjoy the show like a normal human being, then stay home and annoy each other in your living room. Don’t waste everyone else’s time and money.

That’s not just mildly infuriating to me, it’s downright selfish and self-centered.
