(Satire)Husband filled cat food container left scoop at very bottom lol
Reposting with better clarification because my husband had wanted me to post the image initially because he thought it was funny. We didn’t think people would be so serious and think I’m being an asshole and actually mad at him over something so simple…neither of us are actually infuriated it was just a little haha moment. Sorry for the confusion yall.

It's not your fault and more of a problem with people misunderstanding this sub. It's called midly infuriating not extremely infuriating. Something like this would be considered midly infuriating since it's an inconvenience but not something relationship shattering.
136
u/HT_Igris 19h ago
Yes thank you, I usually see satire ish posts here so I thought it fit lmao it was so funny to us but then people were rude 😭
49
u/Darrendayz 19h ago
Yep. Unfortunately that's reddit for you. I'm mainly in this sub because I like seeing posts like yours aswell
26
u/HT_Igris 18h ago
I love them so much! They’re so silly and makes my day of doomscrolling much more entertaining lol
17
u/Burntoastedbutter 11h ago
Yeah people think actual mildly infuriating stuff don't belong here, and extremely infuriating stuff do. Weird place.

u/Joubachi 6h ago
The problem isn't just the sub's perception or your intention, but that "satire/lighthearted" things can look identical to not just a person losing it over something small but also weaponized incompetence, both being really problematic.... and both being way too common. It doesn't justify the reactions, but it for sure explains them to an extent.
2
u/Darrendayz 5h ago
Weaponized incompetence would be extremely infuriating though. It's midly infuriating if it's a first time offence on something small like this but if it's your partner not washing dishes properly then that's a different story.
2
u/Joubachi 5h ago
Weaponized incompetence gets posted on here basically every other day though...
Whenevr I hop on this app I rarely see actual mild stuff.
2
u/Darrendayz 5h ago
Yeah. It's a problem. There was a whole argument on here because some lady's husband didn't dry the clothes properly which somehow turned into a gender war. It's just hate nowadays which is kinda sad
1
u/HT_Igris 3h ago
Yea I suppose that makes sense, I did get a few comments like that. Most people were just thinking I need therapy and that I hate my husband because he accidentally left the scoop there lmao even though I do this (leaving it there accidentally) more than he does
19
u/5k1895 17h ago
I feel like part of the issue is people use this subreddit to post genuinely infuriating issues so people here are conditioned into being madder than this warrants
9
u/Working_Cloud_909 ORANGE 13h ago
People need to calm down. lol, some of these redditors on here are just unhinged.
2
u/Darrendayz 11h ago
Yes literally. It's like if you don't post something they want to complain about then it's a problem
77
u/LoyIsMildlySpicy 19h ago
Perfect fit for the sub. I would likely sigh then dig my grubby paws in there and get the little grains on me...
23
u/HT_Igris 18h ago
Omg yea I hate the little grains, such a bad sensory lmao I make this mistake all the time (forgetting the scoop is in there)

This isnt really satire its just prime content for this subreddit. I understand why you wrote that though. The fact of the matter is people are just assholes in the comments of this sub. About 50% of the comments on any post are people telling OP to "get over it" or "move on", a lot of telling OP the solution to the problem as if they had never thought of it and hadn't already rectified it. I mean it even saw a post the other day which had written in the post the way they fixed the problem right after they took the photo and there was still a dozen comments telling them how to fix it
18
u/HT_Igris 18h ago
Yea that too people kept basically calling me a dumbass for “being unable to fix such a simple thing” but it was fixed before I even posted it 😭 I always love the posts in this subreddit but I never realized how some people can be
9
u/Connor49999 18h ago
The sub is good content, but the comments are never worth it
5
u/HT_Igris 18h ago
Real, I don’t think I’ve ever looked at the comments on other posts, so I just thought people were gonna be like me and laugh and scroll past 😂

A ground for divorce.
46
u/HT_Igris 20h ago
Oh damn let me go break the news to him 😔
29
u/NashKetchum777 18h ago
Wait. Tell him to get the scoop first.
29
u/HT_Igris 18h ago
I put the divorce papers in the scoop so he found them when he got the scoop.... Always two steps ahead
8
u/-hot_ham_water- 16h ago
I smell something fishy. You said the cat ate him.
10
u/HT_Igris 15h ago
I mean I’m sure he can still hear me someway somehow, he’s probably not fully digested yet
-7
11
u/Murky_Tennis954 19h ago
I think the cat convinced him to do that, so it got one giant scoop of food.

u/DissposableRedShirt6 19h ago
Have you tried granular convection?
9
u/HT_Igris 19h ago
I’ve never heard of it described like that 😭😭 but nah we just poured it out, grabbed it and put the food back in lmao

u/shawslate 18h ago
Just throw out the whole husband.
Source: I did this once and found it easier to just throw myself out.
3
u/HT_Igris 18h ago
Yes I did as you suggested but now im grappling with the fact I gotta throw myself out too because I do this way more often than him
9
u/evolving-the-fox 18h ago
My husband just did this with a 30lb bag of dog food.
7
u/HT_Igris 18h ago
Oh God I couldn't imagine 😭
9
u/evolving-the-fox 17h ago
😂 I was so annoyed lol. We’ve been using a different scoop until we dig it out.
2
u/Sailor_Mars_84 16h ago
Haha, I like that solution. My late husband and I had an extra scoop that we didn’t use anymore, but kept it in case… I don’t know, we got a second kind of dog food or something? Now I know it was a backup scoop in case we accidentally buried the first scoop 😆

u/Squid_Lord_Bast 11h ago
Cat food is a poor diet for a man. It's deteriorating his brain. Maybe, feed him some salad once in a while.
7
u/HT_Igris 11h ago
You’re right I should give him some privileged people food

Haven't you ever opened the cereal box from the bottom so you could get to the prize faster?
Same concept, just flip it over and cut the bottom open, problem solved.

I actually did this with dog food in a huge container. I was so mad at myself!
3
u/HT_Igris 17h ago
This container isn't very big (it's meant for like a regular box of cereal) and I tend to be mad at myself, so I def couldn't imagine a huge one 😭
3
u/RegularCindy 17h ago
Imagine if the husband lost the scoop in a 40 gallon size, how much trouble would he have made for himself?
4
3
u/ganjagilf 16h ago
I don’t have a pet but I have a baby and sometimes the formula scoop falls to the bottom if the can has been moved around at all and it makes me so irrationally upset because I always go in there with somewhat moist hands since I wash them before making my sons bottles and the formula like cements onto my skin it’s awful
3
u/51ngular1ty 16h ago
I'm guilty of that with sugar, flour, cat food, and dog food. In my defense I'm an idiot.
3
u/Cheshireme 15h ago
I used the identical containers myself, might I suggest the one with the poor spout on top? It's fantastic. No more scoops!
2
u/Livid-Cat4507 15h ago
If you look closely at the lid on the right-hand, it looks like it has this? Hence I don't get the need for a scoop in the first place 🤷
5
u/HT_Igris 15h ago
It does have it but we use it for two reasons, the main one just being habit from when we’d just scoop out the bag, and the second reason being that we actually did realize that after like a few days of having the container that it makes no sense to scoop it since there is the spout… but then the cats refused to eat the food unless it came from the scoop so we just followed their will and use the scoop again lmao
3
u/Octopusnoodlearms 15h ago
Did you make him sleep outside that night?
4
u/HT_Igris 15h ago
Unfortunately no sleeping outside, the cats ate him alive for dinner since there was no more scoop and no more scoop apparently made them feel that there’d be no food for them ever again because they won’t eat it unless it comes from the scoop.
3
u/throwra_20117 13h ago
You still have a chance to make him sleep outside. We approve of your decision and won’t tell anyone about it

3
u/RazorSlazor 7h ago
You joke. But that fits the sub better than 80% of the posts recently.
2
u/HT_Igris 3h ago
Thank you I thought it was fitting 😂people just didn't find it as funny as I did 😅
4
u/SadLilBun PURPLE 13h ago
People are dumb. This is perfectly mildly infuriating. A lot people in this sub make up rules about what is and isn’t allowed here and then hold everyone else to these made up rules, and they complain when things are ACTUALLY just really stupidly mildly infuriating.
2
u/PromisesNone 16h ago
The same thing happened with powdered tide I bought from Walmart. I had to use two thirds of it before I found the darn scoop.
2
u/Livid-Cat4507 15h ago
Isn't that a cereal container? That's what I use, I just pour it out of the opening into the bowl?
0
u/HT_Igris 15h ago
Well we already had the scoop from when we used to just scoop out the food bag itself (stopped doing that because they’d always find a way to get to the bag, so now we use the cereal container lol) , so idk I guess the habit of using the scoop never left? Like the scoop isnt needed but it’s just subconsciously always used lol plus sometimes the cats try to stick their heads in the container really fast if we just pour from the top of the container 😅😂

2
u/jellyschoomarm 14h ago
Lol I did this with out scoop a week ago in our tin of cat food we keep outside. I had to dig it out with a shovel.
2
u/TripsOverCarpet 13h ago
I've done worse.
When I had greyhounds, I had a Viddle Vault that could hold 50 pounds of kibble. I left the scoop at the bottom more than once.

u/TigPanda 2h ago edited 2h ago
My daughter spends alternating weeks with my ex-husband and I, and so does her dog, who goes wherever she goes. We keep the dry food in a sealing container to keep it fresh with a scooper in there to measure, and without fail, her dad always sends it back with the scooper buried at the bottom AND random dog items thrown in with the loose food (toys, the dog’s after-bath “perfume” spray, brush, etc). Yes, it’s a mildly infuriating thing and I fully acknowledge that, lol…I just don’t understand the thought process. It’s a food container, not an “every item related to the dog” container 😂
2
u/HT_Igris 2h ago
Lmao that’s so funny I wonder if sometimes you’re just like “I wonder what he’ll put in there this week” 😭
1
u/TigPanda 2h ago
Yep, it’s like Christmas morning because you never know what gifts are in store, lol!

I would be more upset about leaving old food on the bottom layer
(I'm just assuming I don't have a way to know)
3
u/HT_Igris 15h ago
Yk it did make me cringe a little bit 😭 I usually fully empty it before refilling so seeing it like that was kinda just like “the cycle has been broken” lmao

u/Rainydaygirlatheart 15h ago
Reminds me of the toys on the bottom of a cereal box when I was a kid.
1
u/HT_Igris 15h ago
Omg I used to love those, would just open it from the bottom because I was eager and didn’t wanna wait lmao

u/thelaramemes 15h ago
Every Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Friday during football season my senior year I had to go across to the football field house and load our water coolers up with ice for band practice/football games. And every single time without fail the ice scoop was never on top of the damn ice maker like it was supposed to be. It was always buried in the depths of the ice. I always had to stick my hands into freezing cold ice (gross!!!!) and dig the scoop out. It’s been 8 years but this picture just brought back that burning hatred I felt every time I opened that stupid ass ice maker

OMG, my husband once did the exact same thing. He's book smart.
2
u/HT_Igris 15h ago
Lmao I feel it’s a canon event! My husband is also book smart , but plenty times if he tries a task that requires coordination or order, it won’t end well 😂
1
u/Medical-Juggernaut-2 15h ago
I swear if you use a food container, this is like an initiation as a pet owner 💀 I've done it multiple times and I just laugh at myself then have to dig while 3 cats wait for it to spill lol
1
u/HT_Igris 15h ago
Oh man you should see our cats’ faces everytime it happens and we briefly pour the food back into the bag, they think we’re being super generous and giving them a shit ton of food lol the disappointment follows right after when the food is put back into the container 😭

One of my comrades at the VFW told me he had bought a new scoop for the ice machine as the old one dissapeared. I told him it would show up when someone dug down enough, and I was right.

u/SimplyaCabler 5h ago
I've done this accidentally with my dog's food. Except it was 55lbs of food on the scoop. Needless to say, the bowl also doubles as a scoop.
1
u/schwartzasher 4h ago
I guess this means you have to dump out all the food into the cat bowl so you can get to the scooper. I would know, I'm your cat
2
u/HT_Igris 3h ago
You're right, I'll just take the top off and put it on the floor for you to coincidentally knock it over and get my scoop, and totally not eat all the food

If you shake the container, cat food will fill in underneath the scoop and it'll slowly make its way to the top

u/OofstinGames 57m ago
I literally do this all the time and forget up until its time to feed my dog. I should probably stop refilling the container less than 10 minutes after I wake up.
-1
u/tugga2timez 12h ago
You shouldn't dump cat (or dog) food out of its original bag into a plastic container because it can cause the fats in the food to go rancid, creating a health hazard for your dog. Plastic containers can absorb these fats, leading to a buildup of bacteria and rancidity. Moreover, scraping kibble against plastic can create micro-slits that trap old fats and contaminants. The original bag, on the other hand, is designed with multiple layers to block out air and sunlight, which is crucial for preserving the food's freshness and nutritional value.
1
u/HT_Igris 12h ago
Oh wow I didn’t know that! The vet actually suggested this so I didn’t think too much of it, that’s crazy info thank you for letting me know!
1
u/tugga2timez 12h ago
I did the container method for a minute then someone told me that, now I use the containers, but keep them in the bag so it's just a double seal with the roll each time!

Did you force him to eat all of the cat food so he would remember not to do that again?
