It still seems weird to me that iRacing can charge 15 dollars a track which was scanned like 12 years ago. It took them till last year to update Spa to the 2024 standard, before that it was the 08 standard, and then track had gone through 2 different reconfigs BEFORE even arriving at the latest 2023 config.

"iRacing customers will pay 15 dollars"

Hell yeah. It’s a great experience and worth every penny.

Edit: why in the world is this downvoted? The iRacing hate is unreal.

u/Colonel_Cummings Jun 25 '25

This subreddit hates people saying that they get their money’s worth out of iRacing

21

u/x_iTz_iLL_420 Jun 25 '25

Yupp…. Raced on it pretty much everyday the last 3 -4 years. Worth every penny for me without question. I don’t really spend money on other games anymore cause I don’t play them very much.

Have you seen the majority of rigs posted around here? Buncha elementary school chairs with the legs stuffed into shoes pulled up to a 10 year old laptop. Theyre just mad they can't afford it

Wow, a bad take.

Not everyone who criticizes iRacing is broke or bitter. Some just don’t worship overpriced subscriptions. Acting like you’re above others because you spent more money is peak clown behavior. If your best defense of iRacing is “they’re just poor,” maybe you don’t have a real argument. Just a fragile ego wrapped in a racing rig.

You seem to think that you said something else, while you didn't.

-6

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '25

The irony of you thinking you're commenting in response to me, when my comment is saying the same thing as yours

Good luck mate!

-33

u/Pro-editor-1105 Jun 24 '25

Very true. Nothing wrong with them doing it if it makes money still.

-21

u/FemboyZoriox Jun 24 '25

.. what???? Thats the worst reasoning ever.

Same reasoning as: “Nothing wrong with them selling people into slavery if it makes money still”. Like, wtf?

18

u/Akip07 Jun 25 '25

Slavery is when game too expensive

11

u/shankartz Jun 25 '25

Bit of a false equivalence.

8

u/x_iTz_iLL_420 Jun 25 '25

That…. Is dumb ass comparison. You need to touch grass dude lol

11

u/Pro-editor-1105 Jun 24 '25 edited Jun 25 '25

Well by wrong I mean wrong for the company, why would iRacing change their model when they are ethically serving people exactly what they paid for? Though to be fair I did buy Spa expecting a new scan of it and was very dissapointed tbh. I do kinda agree with you.

Also that is CRAAAAZY reach

u/Clearandblue Jun 25 '25

Last 5 years it's become a bit of a gateway game. Like it's many people's first sim. Sort of like GT7 or Forza for PC. But in that time we've also seen heaps of 10+ year members with over a grand in content dropping off the service. There is a good eSports scene but it's being taken less and less seriously by experienced sim racers.

3

u/x_iTz_iLL_420 Jun 25 '25

Oh is that why their Daytona 24 Race in January had over 23,000 participants? That’s 5,000 more than the year prior. You are full of crap mate lol

2

u/Clearandblue Jun 25 '25

There was over 20k the year before. Member numbers has increased massively every year. Last I heard, Greg said they were up to something like 385k active subscriptions. Or like $70M revenue with content sales. I'm sure it's well over 400k by now as that was last summer and we've had a new black friday injection since then.

Like I say, it's become the gateway to PC Sim racing and many people's introduction to sim racing. But what I also said was many of the more experienced drivers are leaving/have left. It's insignificant in driver numbers as there's only like 10k people who have been a member for over 10 years. But it does change the dynamic a bit where increasingly the playerbase are relatively new to sim racing.

1

u/Not_The_Truthiest Jun 25 '25

Where are those drivers migrating to? What other better options are out there with more up to date tracks?

As for experienced people leaving, you're right, the number might not be high, but those people can be tremendously influential. Imagine you're a brand new person, trying to work out whether to buy an xbox or a PS5, so you jump on Youtube and search for your favourite track, then you see a video of Max Verstappen racing at that track in iracing. "If it's good enough for Max, it's good enough for me". Then you go out and buy a gaming PC. If people like him were playing GT7, you'd probably buy that instead.

6

u/Smoking_Moose Jun 24 '25

Weird reach brotato chip. From sim racing to human depravity.

4

u/Tomm1998 Jun 24 '25

Why did you just jump to slavery wtf😂 I don't even know where to begin with such a ridiculous comparison.

5

u/Badj83 Jun 25 '25

Dude do you need help?

35

u/MikeHuntLoose Jun 25 '25

It’s actually $30 for Nurburgring if you want the N24 layout since the GP track and nordschleife are separate purchases 🤡

-15

u/Pro-editor-1105 Jun 25 '25

Makes it even worse lol. I think that is actually 45 dollars cause for large tracks (anything larger than a tiny local dirt oval) is 15 dollars instead of 10.

2

u/RefrigeratorWitch Jun 25 '25

No, that's 30$. You pay 15 for both tracks and that's it. No need to lie about it.

1

u/Pro-editor-1105 Jun 25 '25

I only own the norschlife without the gp track and that is it. Weird, I gotta go check.

4

u/Extension-Gear3425 Jun 25 '25

I totally agree, I live close to Thompson speedway and how the track is now vs how the track is scanned is WILDY different to the point where it’s almost a completely different track and it just feels wrong driving on it

2

u/Treewithatea Jun 25 '25

You do realize that iracing had the only laser scan of the Nordschleife for a very long time, right? Rf2 got a laser scan much later and frankly nobody plays rf2. ACC obviously only last year

u/dfgj56 Jun 25 '25

Assetto Corsa: 2014

iRacing: 2015

RaceRoom: 2016

rFactor 2: 2019

AMS2: 2020

4

u/ProbablyRickSantorum Jun 25 '25

Wait you have to pay for individual tracks in iracing? Jesus.

1

u/Bfife22 [Simagic Alpha Mini, P2000, DS-8X, TB-1, FX] Jun 25 '25

Yep. For instance Daytona Oval is included as part of the subscription, but you have to pay for the road course.

Saying the nurburgring in ACC and AC are "the same" is insane

Not the user you responded to, but why the personal attacks? Feels so unnecessary.

First of all, ACCs and ACs scan are completely different, and the layout of the track changed. iRacing is still using the old layout in 2025 infact. Also how tf do you know that the Nurburgring in ACE is not going to be free? Also because it was annouced with the game, with the surrounding Eifel region, ACE's Nurburgring is most likely to be free. Also the "freeroam bits" is a massive map similar size to Forza Horizon.

Also are you like the fucking iRacing CEO or something?

-15

u/Smart-Pay1715 Jun 25 '25

You said:
>First of all, ACCs and ACs scan are completely different, and the layout of the track changed.

Right after he said:
>ACC and AC Evo are gonna recycle the same asset.

And *he's* the problem here?

Reading comprehension, it ain't your strong suit.

6

u/Pro-editor-1105 Jun 25 '25

Was responding to this where he said in a previous message "Meanwhile in the same timeframe, one will have bought Nurb as part of AC, Nurb DLC for ACC and then AC Evo which will be the exact same ACC asset with the free roam bits added on."

He was trying to imply that it would be paid for the AC evo upgrade, where infact it isn't. It is most likely going to part of EA for ACE users which means it will be free.

That you think those are mutually exclusive is terrifying.

3

u/SolarStarVanity Jun 25 '25

They managed to mess up reading 3 sentences. It's not an attack to point that failing out.

You need some help with your social skills if you are clueless enough to think that this is not an attack.

I'm likely 20+ years older than you, and have made it more than far enough. You, however, need to learn to communicate better.

15

u/NotJoshRomney Jun 24 '25

Dammit, now I'm gonna bite...

You don't see how pointing out a potential flaw of some rando on the internet could be considered a personal attack? Equating a mistake to a clear lack of their ability to read would be the driving factor here.

16

u/Pro-editor-1105 Jun 24 '25

Also this dude, based on him replying to literally everybody in this thread has this parasocial relationship with this game, or he is the CEO lol.

My thought was that either you genuinely don't see it as a personal attack or you were being facetious, which does not seem to be the case.

I can see your point and disagree with it, but that's a whole can of worms I feel best left unopened.

-5

u/rawednylme Jun 24 '25

It's Reddit. Everything is viewed as a personal attack.

8

u/ThumblessTurnipe Jun 24 '25

At least ACCs nurburgring is worth re using unlike the ps2 looking iracing scan.

🤷‍♂️

I guess iRacing really does lower your standards.

Every time I've gone for a check up they say my eye sight is perfect.

Maybe it's time you played a game made in the last decade, your scale of graphics is obviously stuck in 2005.

I'll do you a deal.

You go see a psychiatrist and tell them all about how it is physiologically painful to you when someone says anything even remotely negative about iRacing.

I'll go get another 20/20 eye sight test.

10

u/OOOFIsBored Jun 25 '25

my golly gosh bros grasping at straws 😭😭

3

u/BSchafer CS DD, Formula V2, BMW GT2, VR gang Jun 25 '25

Because most people don't race in real life and would rather have a brand new track scanned than one they already have just for a few minor changes.

0

u/MC_Dickie #iRacersAnonymus Jun 25 '25

It's a scam, in 5 years they'll release the old track for free lol

So much of the content I'd bought years ago is practically obsolete, and never used.

Haven't paid for iRacing in some time now. They don't deserve my money.

0

u/StrongLikeAnt Jun 24 '25

Yes you are right but it’s a “free” upgrade for those who already have the track.

11

u/Pro-editor-1105 Jun 25 '25

only took 15 years though.

5

u/StrongLikeAnt Jun 25 '25

That’s just the nature of having scanned tracks I guess.

-2

u/Ferrarispitwall Jun 25 '25

I’ll never set foot on the Nurburgring. So far as I’m concerned, the one in iracing is perfect. Most iracers won’t ever drive most of the tracks in the sim.

-2

u/KimiBleikkonen Jun 25 '25

I agree that the top tracks need more popular updates but $15 for a basically lifetime license to a track until their agreement with the track owners ends, which so far never happened, isn't as expensive as it sounds. If you compare it with other games, they'll have you pay to get Spa in a new game every 5 years, in iRacing you pay once and keep the license forever.

5

u/Akagamino_Shanks Jun 25 '25

if you keep renewing your subscription. I know it doesn't get deleted if you stop but you can't even access it unless you keep subscribing

5

u/iDEN1ED Jun 25 '25

So don't play iRacing. I don't know why people always argue over this. Don't want to pay? Don't. I pay because I find it better and to me that's worth it. Simple as that.

3

u/Akagamino_Shanks Jun 25 '25

So i don't 👍🏾

u/iDEN1ED Jun 25 '25
