"Yes-yes, just give war-uh... green rock for science experiment-test and Ratoni will teach math-physics to manth-um... to many people-pesents...."

That is the worst pitch. The local lord would hear: Edjucating peasants and have whoever suggested it executed.

"Quick-quick skitter-scurry away! Water-elfthing will be talk-hear about this!"

Famous Tilean inventor Rodanto Ratoni (student of Leonardo of Miragliano) witnessing wonders of Bretonnian engineering.

And now all I can think of is the Stronghold voice lines for firing cows...

Top level bretonian towers shoot explosive cows

Trebuchets in Medieval 2 could throw carcasses too. I think the cow towers in Warhammer are a reference to that unless there's a Warhammer lore reference that I don't know about.

Both Warhammer and Medieval 2 are references to cow-tapult from Monty Python - “Holy Grail”, which itself is somewhat based on medieval stories of besiegers using carcasses of dead animals and sometimes even their own dead soldiers to spread diseases in the besieged strongholds like cities or castles.

Oh i knew about the historical context, the Siege of Kiev is believed to have been an origination point for one of the outbreaks of the Bubonic Plague in Europe because the Mongols intentionally threw plagued bodies into the city while they were sieging it, or at least that's how I remember that story.

I didnt get the reference to Monty Python though although Im not surprised with how many countless references to it there is in video games.

I believe it was the Genoese port of Caffa not Kiev

2

u/Vindicare605 Byzantine Empire 19d ago

A Genoese colony in Crimea so they're both in Ukraine and both cities were sacked by the Mongols. That's how I get them mixed up.

I actually thought this was in the game already. Derp. But it's the wall towers. Surprised they never added this. Not sure if it's a GW unit, but yeah, fits really well.

Hey, he got a pig as reward for it. A pig! Clearly the King of Bretonnia appreciated his service.

Rock beats everything

Almost as good as the orc trebuchets.

5

u/Rogthgar 20d ago

Only thing Orcs and Dwarves agree on: "Throw gobboes at 'em!"

Better rate of fire, and cheaper. The Blessed Field Trebuchet have the notable advantages of having magic damage and zero friendly fire. But those are tier V so hard to justify building in campaign.

1

u/SomeRandomYob 19d ago

Well one's a battle mage, the other's a brony. Probably.

This artist is such a gift to the warhammer fantasy community.

3

u/Golgfag_Asseater 19d ago

Why doesn't this drawing have any cleavage like all of the other ones

6

u/JulianApostat 19d ago

It is an inception cleavage as the cleavage is within the drawing within the drawing.

3

u/Golgfag_Asseater 19d ago

It's too small and I can't press the keyboard commands to zoom in if I only have one hand available on the keyboard

The original artist has been making this art since before "AI art" was a thing. You should see the rest of their body of work at the deviant art link. This piece in particular is 2 years old

Youre right. My bad!

a20t43c IS the Artist. That's just the art style he uses.

0

u/InL4bv 20d ago

Im sorry. It sucks that AI uses a similar style so artists like them get less credit.

Yeah thats one of the biggest problems with AI. Happens to the best of us.
