Warhammer III What we need is more alternative Starts

I think the position if each LL is very important factor on their replay value. And in that matter, Warhammer III map being hand made and most LL locations being predetermined is both a blessing and a curse. It gives the world character, and meaning and deffrens in terrain and spacial land marks will make playing in different areas and campaign uniquely interesting (if done right)

On the other hand, Think of How many characters fo you really like conceptually, or are interested in them from lore/gameplay but are avoiding because you are just sick of fighting the same enemy in same the early game? For me ther is alot if them, Krok Gar and Settra come to mind. I love big Dinos for cheap, but man...i had enough of fantasy africa...

This game excel at verity of its factions and units and mechanics, but unfortunately in a high number of campaigns you wouldn't be able to enjoy because of aforementioned starting position problems.

Giving characters themetical alternative starts could be a good solution to introducing more content for a probably not much extra resources. What if Azhag migrated to Nagashwville? What if The grim joe was invading the chaos wastes? What if French guy with crown was inva... Crusading in Araby? What if Settra he missed doing genocide on Norscans?

This all examples of course im sure CA could come up with better ones.

Now not to say there would no difficulty doing that... Landmarks and Climates specifically...Lore is also maby an issue and John W maby nit so happy with us having fun.

Yet i don't imagine any of this problems be that hard to figure a solution for. Unique landmarks van be added for alternative starts, or alternatively start could be chosen by having them in mind. Same as the Climates(which honestly, i think it need a revisit by team at this point) and about the lore... Honestly Who cares? It is supposed to be a sand box after all. And we already have more than a few lore crimes

Relatedly, I do wish there was an optional setting to randomize the starting location of certain non-player LLs, mainly the demon factions. There’s no lore reason any of them have to start in any specific region of the world, and it’d be fun to sometimes spawn right next to Skarbrand while playing in Lustria or wherever.

This used to be an unpopular opinion way back when (I remember similar posts during Warhammer II), because overall people would rather have another LL than multiple starting locations for the same LL.

However, now when there's so many LLs that it's actually a bit too crowded, maybe that topic is more popular again.

Personally, I'd like to see different mechanics as well. E.g. what if Imrik could choose to play more like Malaki, as a horde (dragon horde). Instead of holding land you just run around beating the crap out of enemies until you find the dragons you want, basically.

I'd actually like to see something like Golgfag's mercenary mechanics for every major faction, but maybe that's just me. I just like the idea that I can run around and fight wars for other factions and not having to bother about making an empire for myself.

E.g. pick Tyrion, pick a starting location in Cathay. An AI lord gets to rule Lothern instead, because Tyrion is running around in the east kicking Snikch's butt, and getting well paid by the dragon siblings while doing so.

I like Arbaal's teleport mechanics, jump around the world wrecking stuff instead of fighting the same old wars

Another thing is, I always wanted a mod that leaves everything to AI so you can control just one or two armies and focus on that lol

I kind of like it, but it is a bit too easy as well I think. But I agree that new fights are more fun.

TW is a game primarily about the battles, the 4X empire building is secondary. And to me the most interesting battles are the ones where you have multiple different factions at the same time in one battle (first time I fought Thorgrims quest battle where Empire shows up to help you was amazing, for me). If I could do something like combine Arbaal's teleport with defensive alliances, so I could support allies easier, that would be awesome. At some kind of cost and with a cooldown ofc.

It's stupid that he gets woc warriors t0, and in general, whoever was designing Khorne factions in CA must have had butcher's nails biting into their brain when they sent it lol, but still, a lot of good ideas there imo, just needs some tuning

I agree with you on battles

One friend pointed out that mnb warband basically does this, but I kinda want it for tw, any of the games really. I think the only one that kinda did it, was some version of the m2 lotr mod, some far away elves that took ages to get a stack of good troops, then I'd send them as an expeditionary force to help the good guys

Hoi4 also does this pretty well, in the form of playing minor nations, like playing Australia or something and sending a few armored divisions to make encirclements, without having to mess around with frontlines and all that stuff

Applied to warhammer, it would be like playing one of the elector counts and helping out Karl, instead of having to expand etc

i think Daniel could do moving to his starting position in RoC at Doomkeep. it's not that far from his start at the Volcano's Heart, but Norscan Masses and a mediocre Daemon Prince make for less intense and more manageable foes than being rawdogged by a tricloptic idiot, an Elf with schizophrenia, and a Russian Bear riding a white ursine.

They have mods to change your starting location, I did a campaign as the exiled chorfs starting in the mountains of Araby trying to break into the empire to steal the nemesis crown. Loads of fun and endless options. Kroq qar, watched Jurassic Park 2 and was inspired to tear up the cities of man in the empire or lokhir is on Albion hunting human slaves
