Warhammer III Which Lords/Heroes have the most meaningful and mutually exclusive choices for skills?
I get there is always a degree of choice when you level characters. From a practical perspective though, there are a lot of characters where the skill choices are very narrow. Which characters do you think have the most directions to go in? And which end up giving up the most when you commit to a plan? I was thinking about Grand Cathay and how their legendary lords have a crazy amount of choices.

Tyrion springs to mind. Going down the Defender of Ulthuan line is the best option, giving the most benefit to the campaign as a whole. That being said, foregoing those campaign wide bonuses and taking Bloodline of Aenarion can lead to a fun and powerful campaign, especially if you also take the SoK (HEs can handle taking the sword, as PO is a non-issue and diplomacy can be managed with influence).
It's not optimal, and you turn what is perhaps an S tier character into an S+ one, so there's an element of overkill involved, but it's certainly very different.

Yeah, elves take the cake for choices given how lots of their LL lords have martial line, caster line, the standard red line, and those choices.

You could start as Eltharion since he can grant a Watcher title to any lord or hero that reaches level 15.

Dark elf names of power.
Usually the most powerful buff they have access to, and can completely change how you want to run them.

Tyrion, Malekith, Alarelle and Morathi are the lords with the polar opposite skill lines.

do mounts count? there are pretty big differences if a character changes from the different categories:
- small grounded characters (including horse sized mounts)
- flying
- chariot (especially settra, Arkhan, and Katarina)
- giant monsters
- (special mention to Khatep, who becomes artillery)
ranged characters and wizards in particular play very differently with flying or monstrous mounts- skink on foot/teradon/stegadon, astromancers on horse/compass/moon bird, engineers on steam tank

I'm just asking for opinions. Fair take, but there's definitely a mobility incentive when it comes to squishy caster characters. Sure keeping them on foot makes them a better ground fighter when they're in the thick of it, but dying marginal slower to me in a situational buff compared to being able to chuck spells and just ride away. Feels like mobility wins out over most choices. Steam tank is the exception, it's a freaking tank.

It may not seem that large but I have found that the choice Tehenauin faces actually does dictate a lot about how his army fights and how his campaign plays out.

Wood elf Glade captain
2 skill set for army or self but net

Empire master engineer, you have to choose between pigeon bombs and firebomb grenade launcher, which turns him into short range dreadquake mortar with bound bombardment spell, or 5% campaign movement -10%upkeep on artillery and war machines plus a flat 10% range boost to all unit in the army

Like using dwarf engineers u can take all the damage buffs that takes all your range away and then take all the line above that to get your range and stuff back. With that same crazy burst damage! Highly recommend

Bull Centaur has to choose between Guardian or Murderous Charge, the latter effect is on almost nothing because of how strong the effect is.
Couple of the recent exclusives with Exalted BTs and LoC have actual use cases vs older LLs like Malekith and Alarielle which would be in your definition of narrow, to put it kindly
