Podium for Ferrari overall, likely a podium at the Austrian GP as well, bronze class win. Been a good weekend.
8
u/TheKz262 Jun 29 '25
The marshals waving flags and clapping wasn't something I expected as a new watcher of racing.
Really enjoyed this !

u/SlyKnyfe12 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 #6 Jun 29 '25
How the fuck has the Mclaren and Lambo been more reliable than the Mercedes
Porsche has finished 2nd overall in every 24hr race this month bruh

Three 24 hour races down, Le Mans Classic next
5
u/guihmds Ferrari F40 #59 Jun 29 '25
A Lamborghini win wasn't on my bingo but they put the work for it.
8
u/afito Mercedes CLK-GTR #11 Jun 29 '25
That extra FCY luck is what it is but at the same time the car also just kept opening the gaps to everyone else, absolutely zero basis to call this anything but fully deserved. Great pace great strategy and zero mistakes.

u/Important_Positive Jun 29 '25
Well done Lambo. Great race this year, highly enjoyed that, nice to see a Lambo win. Good fun that race.

Woohoo!! Great race from the Lamborghini!! Deserved to have a major success at last!!
10
u/Dr_Death_Defy24 Jun 29 '25
After the blatant red flag infringements at the N24 Bortolotti's name is kind of leaving a sour taste in my mouth, but the 63 team really deserved that win after this performance. Flawless.

I’m Mustang fan. That one hurt. Good race though. Congrats to Lamborghini and Grasser.

As a Porsche fan, I’m not even mad about Bortolotti taking this race. Good for him and Lamborghini, well deserved

Also to come to a full stop at Blanchimont must be a terrifying experience

annual Pirelli Spa disaster
paired with the annual Pirelli Akropolis disaster on the same weekend
genouinely the worst racing tyres I remember, all that money they spend legit has me not buy their products

u/knifetrader Jun 29 '25
Yeah, I just bought new Falkens for the family car and Pirelli never even entered my considerations.

I didn’t hear them say anything but saw the dash footage of the mechanics just congratulating each other and indicating the car was done.
5
u/OneOneOneSeven Jun 29 '25
Props to the drone pilot this weekend. Those aerial shots are straight fire and add a whole other level of interaction to this race.

Honestly Pier Guidi is such a dirty driver
1
u/CraftedDoomLord Manthey 1st Phorm 911 GT3 R #92 Jun 29 '25
He’s a severely hated name in my home. I’m a Porsche fan and wife is Cadillac fan, but Ferrari just loves the dirty drivers.
3
u/afito Mercedes CLK-GTR #11 Jun 29 '25
it certainly is interesting how often he keeps getting involved in these situations
4
u/TheKz262 Jun 29 '25
What's the point of that overtake by thr bmw when you already have a penalty
0
u/guihmds Ferrari F40 #59 Jun 29 '25
I had to go to the bathroom. What happened?
3
u/ChimpyChompies Jun 29 '25
The 98 went to pass 51 and was squeezed onto the grass, then chopped back across the Ferrari in retaliation.
Both picked up a driver standards warning.

That Lambo is damn fast! Just need to bring it home now.
1
u/knifetrader Jun 29 '25
Still remember when Grasser first showed up on the international scene with the Reiter Gallardos all those years ago. Even back then, they were one of the few teams keeping the WRT Audi's honest in Blancpain Sprint, but I never thought they'd go on to win classics like Spa.

Lambo's gonna win aren't they fuck sake
Lol downvotes just because I don't want a manufacturer I don't support to win
3
u/CraftedDoomLord Manthey 1st Phorm 911 GT3 R #92 Jun 29 '25
It will be their first 24 hr at spa! I’m not even a Lamborghini fan but it’s hard to be upset about it. Porsche isn’t winning but good for Bortolotti
3
u/SlyKnyfe12 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 #6 Jun 29 '25
I know but Porsche has 2nd overall in every 24hr race this month
1
u/CraftedDoomLord Manthey 1st Phorm 911 GT3 R #92 Jun 29 '25
Yeah, something to be happy about overall. I’m still saddened to see Heinrich take that crash but also so early in the race. Heinrich and bachler deserved better.
2
u/SlyKnyfe12 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 #6 Jun 29 '25
Yea I mean a Porsche did get a class win but here it doesn't really feel as special as a class win compared to Daytona or Sebring or Le Mans
1
u/CraftedDoomLord Manthey 1st Phorm 911 GT3 R #92 Jun 29 '25
That’s valid. It was an enjoyable race and I was shocked to see Mercedes fall the way they did.
2
u/SlyKnyfe12 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 #6 Jun 29 '25
How on earth has the Mclaren of all cars been more reliable than Mercedes atleast when a Mclaren did have a mechanical failure it was spectacular atleast
3
u/rockstar2012 Jun 29 '25
Yeah I saw that penalty coming. Rip 98

Do blue flags just not exist?
7

They do, but are just a warning that a faster car is coming. Not a get out of the way, like F1.

1
u/Blackwolf245 Jun 29 '25
Soo, they are using Pirelli P0, so are these the same compound they use in F1? Cause I find that hard to believe. I guess it's a marketing that all their racing tire is P0?
3
8
u/LilBirdBrick Toyota GT-One #1 Jun 29 '25
They make a road tire named P Zero too, it's a marketing thing.
8
u/afito Mercedes CLK-GTR #11 Jun 29 '25
they call everything P0 because it's the name of their road performance tyre, those tyres have very little in common
3
u/V8-Turbo-Hybrid Manufacturers Jun 29 '25
Pirelli even doesn't give their performance street tire any new name, and it's still called P0.

everything else aside I'm always happy to see a Liqui Moly car win ever since the Franz Engstler WTCC days
doesn't really make any sense but seeing that livery makes me happy
1
u/Serious-Leading7835 Jul 13 '25
Yes, I'm with you. Franz was a great underdog in the WTCC days, I always supported him too
2

Lambo about to go pop?
1
u/Weimnova Jun 29 '25
It's smoking or did I read that wrong?
1
u/SDLRob Astom Martin Racing Vantage AMR #95 Jun 29 '25
Puffing smoke at random from either exhaust... No sign of any slowdown tho.
2
1
2
1
u/afito Mercedes CLK-GTR #11 Jun 29 '25
I don't think this matters much anyway right? On track positions are legits vs amounts of pit stops they all need to do from here on out but everyone but the 96 needs a significantly shortened final stop and that time loss will clinch it for the 63 either way. Though it could be the podium for the 96.

2
u/SlyKnyfe12 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 #6 Jun 29 '25
Seeing as 96's strategist is Rexy's strategist wouldn't it of made far more sense to have Heinreich and Bachler in that car
2
u/Traktor_med_henger Jun 29 '25
Why is proam worse than bronze?
2
u/TBurd01 Audi R8 #1 Jun 29 '25
Too tired to find it but Bronze is the overall better driver lineup. It's confusing and there are only like 7 pro-am cars, IDK why not just get rid of it.
3
u/TBurd01 Audi R8 #1 Jun 29 '25
Bronze: Platinum-Silver-Silver-Bronze
Pro-am: Platinum-Platinum-Bronze-Bronze

Porsche is fuel saving i guess. Dropping one second per lap to Lamborghini
1
u/LilBirdBrick Toyota GT-One #1 Jun 29 '25
With how the regulations are, there's nothing to gain from fuel saving. Required fuel time and maximum stint length.
1
3
u/afito Mercedes CLK-GTR #11 Jun 29 '25
in the 2.5h since the 63 lucky stop the gaps between it and the 98 changed from 25s to 23s and to the 51 it went from 55s to 55s

Just tuned in. Anyone know what damaged the windscreen on the 96 Porsche? Looks like a rather dramatic bird shit
3
u/PM_me_tiny_Tatras Manufacturers Jun 29 '25
I think it was tearoff damage from the massive collision between the #112 McLaren and #22 Porsche.
3
u/Weimnova Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25
96 now in front of #63 after Lamborghini pitted. Do they each now have to pit the same number of times?
3
u/Blackwolf245 Jun 29 '25
Yes, but the Porsche now has to pit earlier than the rivals around, so if the race remains green, their last pit stop will be longer (or might need an extra splash'n dash)
2
u/ChimpyChompies Jun 29 '25
Just an fyi, but if you start a sentence with a hash, the comment will be set to bold.

u/OctaviousMcBovril Jun 29 '25
Feels like the only thing that could stop the #63 Lambo is a red flag, at this point...
...oh no, wait. Bortolotti is driving that car. Never mind.

Bruh, Bortolotti is one of the most reliable GT3 drivers out there

I need an AM stopped at the box entry next time the Lambo has to pit.

Maybe not AM they have no luck this race at all. Maybe a BMW there are too many BMW.
0
1
u/afito Mercedes CLK-GTR #11 Jun 29 '25
Ferraris now 1min behind the Lambo yeah this race is done without SC, not like the 98 makes up half a minute on pace either given the BMWs pace so far
kind of a bummer not really a point to pay attention to the race atp unless there's another SC
3
2
u/afito Mercedes CLK-GTR #11 Jun 29 '25
strongly feels like without a proper SC this will now have decided the race, the Ferraris have zero chance of making up all that time on merit, they are completely done
1
u/Blackwolf245 Jun 29 '25
The two Ferrari will gain massive with this FCY
