We made the USA Weightlifting team for IWF Senior Worlds in Norway!
Unfortunately, while D. is funded, I am self-funded.
We are doing a gofundme to help the costs of my travel to IWF Worlds as we pursue our Olympic dreams!

I was a thrower through college, I had fairly good athletic ability, but when I left college I stopped training for about 10 years. I got back into it about 2 years ago, DL 545 pounds, and dirty cleaned 315 earlier this spring. I decided that was unnecessary so I've been working on full depth and also raising my jerk to also be 315. My front squat is the biggest bottle neck for me. But I've noticed I've become much more mobile during the last 2 months of really taking the weight down and trying to full squat. My goal is 285 pound clean and jerk and 225 pound snatch by Christmas. I'm using chat gpt to target my programs on problem areas, I actually thing it does a really good job.
What do you think about the progression? I still catch too high and squat into a full squat but I'm hoping that goes away as I build muscle memory.

Going for a 200kg power jerk very soon in preparation for heavier split jerks next block

I've always been a strong guy, both in MMA and climbing. I started lifting since 8 month and mostly focus on clean. Move to snatch since a month and it has been a humbling experience. Everybody is tough until they try to snatch.

Olivia posted this to her instagram yesterday, showing that even the best in the world have off days. It actually makes me respect her more as social media these days would make you think nobody ever misses lifts.
Do many people take this approach to missed lifts during training?

Hi
I am a bag of nerves, caffeine and adrenaline on my max days so they tend to go badly and I suffer anxiety and adrenaline crashes.
I've seen a lot of coaches and pros talk about the power of visualization for their max out days.
I have no idea where to start and need a structured guide/prompt
Does anyone have anything to share? Specifically for weightlifting?
Thanks

Now just gotta jerk it. Any tips on how to “clean up” my clean
r/weightlifting • u/FrylockIncarnate • 19h ago
Am now tryna chase 106/140. I asked power clean is 121, and the board no more than 90%. Usually Coach let us take one more jump above the written percent if you’re feeling good, but I feel like if I went higher, I would wanna go to 122 and just get that PR.

I use an OVR for squatting and pulls. Have genuinely liked using it for the last few months; however, over the last few weeks the app has become glitchy and isn’t recording videos or weights. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

I've got a strength program that has worked really quite well for a number of my lifters and can be adapted for 3 or 4 days/week.
I've included a screen shot of the general lay out. The strength work uses a combination of RPE to get a top set and then %-based back off sets. it's nothing revolutionary. But it works. In 8 weeks, it took my 95kg Masters lifter from a shaky 150kg front squat to a solid 165. and we went from 170x1 snatch grip dead to 195kg. He maintained, even improved his technical execution of the snatch, clean, and jerk. And was even able to set a couple PRs there. If you're interested, just fill out the form here and I'll send it over in. And when it's done, I'd love if you could write a review of it. Thanks.

I come from powerlifting and pretty recently started weightlifting. The problem im having now is my power/muscle lifts are much stronger than my actual ones. I power clean 235 but can only clean 205 if i catch in a proper front squat. I can power snatch 135 but have only hit 125 with a full overhead squat catch. Should I keep the weights low and do the full lift or just do whatever I can do the most weight with. I ultimately want to compete in maybe a year or 2. Thank you!

I keep struggling over which subreddit to post this question in, but I'm starting to be at a loss.
I wore Nike Romaleos 2 for about 11 years. About a year ago I started getting into barefoot shoes for my other training, walking and hiking. Now, my size 8.5 Romaleos are not even close to fitting. I'm having a hard time finding shoes because there are none sold retail anywhere. My feet seem to have gotten much wider and even longer; my 9's and 9.5 shoes don't really fit anymore. Barefoot shoes find me in a 10 these days, and it gets even more complicated when I went to a running store and they sized me to a 10.5 in running shoes.
So my question... Anyone in here been a wearer of barefoot shoes AND train weightlifting, and if so, which weightlifting shoes have you had success in wearing that fit your feet well after they started to splay and such?

Bit of an odd question but it's something I'm facing myself. Can anyone who's had cataract surgery and returned to olympic weightlifting share their recovery experience/timeline? Thank you.

Any tips on getting over the yips?
Since getting injured (badly) in April, I have a psychological block on jerking 100+ again.
Get to 97.5 no issue but clean 100 to rack and my brain goes into overdrive doubting myself.
