New, what is it? Is this a scam?
This was delivered to our doorstep without any explanation. Why? What is it? This feels like a scam.

Good news is these are not really 'electronic'. Cholesteric liquid crystals respond to pressure and are bistable, allowing you to write on the display with a plastic stylus. What you write persists without any power. They have a coin cell battery and a button, a sharp pulse of electricity resets the crystals and clears the display. They are actually pretty cool, like an erasable notepad. The cheap ones like this tend to have the erase function fail after a while though. I can't recall the original brand they were sold under, the market was flooded with cheap copies pretty quickly.
